INTRODUCTION

According to the Federation Internationale de Football

Association (FIFA), more than 240 million people
worldwide play football regularly. The game evolved from
kicking a rudimentary animal skin ball to the World Cup
sport it is today.

Records trace the history of football back more than 2,000

Some of the greatest players in history are Pele (Edson
Arantes Do Nascimento) of Brazil, who scored six goals at
the 1958 World Cup and helped Brazil to their first title;
Russia's Lev Yashin, who claims to have saved more than
150 penalties during his remarkable goalkeeper career; and
Marco Van Basten from the Netherlands, who has won
several very prestigious football awards in just one year.
There is much debate about who is the greatest footballer of
all time; but players like Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona,
Michel Platini, Lionel Messi and Roberto Baggio are on
almost every list. Among the best football matches in
history was the 1953 match between Hungary (6) and
England (3), in which England were beaten at home for the
first time in history. Hungary's Nandor Hidegguti scored the
opener after just 90 seconds, overwhelming the England
players. Another important match in the history of football
was the 1970 World Cup final between Brazil (4) and Italy
(1), in which Pele opened with a header and two more goals
6
in a row. Many will remember the 1982 World Cup
semi-final between West Germany (3) and France (3) when
France's Alain Gires gave France a 3-1 lead and then
watched Karl-Heinz strike a superb counter-attack. West
Germany won on penalties, the first time a World Cup
match ended like this.

There are many amazing football stadiums around the world

today. Some of the best stadiums in the history of football
include the Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain, which remains
the largest football stadium in Europe; Louis II's luxury
venue in Monte Carlo, Monaco, known as one of the most
comfortable stadiums in the world; and Yokohama
International Stadium in Yokohama, Japan, considered the
most high-tech venue in the world thanks to its retractable
roof, giant screening screen, and hundreds of lights that
dispel every shadow on the pitch.

Obvious Revelation of Football Game

For more than a century, England was considered the

birthplace of modern football, despite protests from Italy.
That claim seemed strong enough until 2011, when a
surprising finding by historians traced the roots of football
to a rather unusual place. A leaked book called Vocabula
seems to have changed the history of football. Written by an
Aberdonian (a resident of Aberdeen in Scotland), it

7
describes a game in which two teams play a ball on a field
roughly the size of today's regular pitch. Not only that, but
also terms like keeper, kick-off and half-time substitution.
How does that refute British claims you might think? Well,
this account was written in the fourteenth century, more
than 400 years before the founding of the English FA.

Not enough? Well, a soccer ball found behind a wall at

Stirling Castle has aged and is claimed to be the oldest in
the world. It dates from the fifteenth century.

After all, the oldest club was founded in Edinburgh in 1824

by John Hope. The only reason FIFA has not officially
crowned him with this honor is because the club no longer
exists after 17 years.

Breakthrough facts, I'm sure you'll agree. Would that come

as a surprise given that the founder of the English FA was a
Scot who probably passed down his football knowledge
from generation to generation to his neighbors across the
border? Scotland were also a team that created possession
play, using short passes to put the pitch in dangerous
positions instead of using long shots and Hope's previous
tactics in training.

Football has a long and glorious history. His methods have

been refined and improved over the centuries to give us the
king of all sports. Scotland can justifiably claim the title as

8
its home. That means now. Who knows, maybe someone
with a flair for history and a bit of determination will find
evidence to disprove Caledonia' claims in the future. Until
then, Scotland can proudly reclaim its reputation as the
home of world football

9
THE IMPOSSIBLE FOOTBALLER'S STEP
MOVEMENT

Have you ever wondered what really makes a great

footballer move? Was it their pace, was it the
incredible ball control that dribblers had to have to
keep them from doing so, or was it just the expression
on the poor defender's face when he gave up on the
move?

I'll tell you what makes them great: It's the hours
these incredible dribblers put into their practice that
allow them to perform seemingly impossible moves
with the ease of a rabbit jumping up a hill. If you've
ever dreamed of making great soccer moves, you have
to work hard to achieve them. And you can do that
with the following step-by-step soccer move guide.

Step by Step Football Movement

● Step by Step and Double Step

This move has an affinity for a player named Ronaldo

(or vice versa, I don't remember) because both the

10
popular Ronaldo at the moment, the Brazilian striker
- Nazario da Lima, and the Portuguese winger -
Cristiano - used it as their move. brand switching.
This is one of the more advanced soccer moves that
you will practice. So don't expect it to be super easy to
master. Here's how, step by step (don't worry, the
steps are fewer than the number of steps in this
sentence):

Step 1 - Bring the ball close to your feet and roll it

slowly forward in the direction you are going.

Step 2 - With your left foot, keep the ball in a circular

motion and place it on the left side of the ball.

Step 3 - With the other foot, cut the ball to the right
and pass the opponent.

Note: Of course you can switch legs, I just used left

and right to cut first for clearer explanation. If you
want to double or triple steps instead of cutting with
your main foot, you can use it to hold the ball again
and so on.

11
● Step by Step Football Movement – Sweep

Another advanced soccer move that isn't easy to

master, but then again, you're not here to stop-and-go
like you normally would. This move is spectacular and
effective at the same time. Can be used on the flank or
in the center of the garden for great effect to get past
direct opponents. It's more difficult to do on the edge
of the penalty area or inside the penalty area because
it's much more tense there.

This footballing great move doesn't really have a

player to say it's branded, although Arsenal's Robbie
Van Persie recently scored a superb goal against
Internazionale Milan with a sweeping dribble. But
here step by step:

Step 1 - Position yourself when passing or shooting,

with your main foot closer to the ball.

Step 2 – Simulate a pass or kick with the other foot.

12
Step 3 - When your wrong foot reaches the ball, slide
it to the side opposite your main foot.

Note: This is very effective because your opponent

doesn't know if you're passing, shooting, or dribbling
until you've finished dribbling. For this to be fully
effective, make sure you throw the ball across in step
3 and don't kick it in that direction, as sliding will give
you valuable time.

This advanced soccer move is still quite situational

because you have to have your opponent at a certain
distance and position. For general purposes, some
simpler dribbles like V-move, stop-and-go, or fake
shots will probably work better, but if you can pull off
one of the more advanced soccer moves above, you're
sure to make a profit. thunderous applause and maybe
an assist or a goal because they were so shocking.

SPIRITUAL FOOTBALL/ SOCCER PREDICTION

Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of articles

detailing some of the well-known and commonly used
statistical techniques that help soccer players make
more informed bets. Each technique has its pros and
cons, and using them individually will increase your
chances of winning. However, together they will prove

14
invaluable in your battle with the bookies. In each
article we explain in detail how certain methods work
and give you enough information to go ahead and
make your own predictions. We'll also tell you where
you can already find websites that use this technique
to make their weekly soccer betting predictions.

The statistical methods outlined in this series of

articles will help you make better decisions about the
game or games you bet on.

In this article, we describe a well-known outcome

prediction method. The Score Prediction method uses
a team's goal performance over a certain period of
time to predict the outcome of each match.

Here are the basic rules...

As an example of a score prediction method,

Footyforecast and 1X2Monster handle this method as
follows. These are examples of the games and the
number of goals each team has scored in their last five
matches:

15
Hosts 3-3 1-0 4-1 0-2 2-1

Away 0-1 2-2 0-3 6-0 1-3

From here we can calculate some numbers as follows:

Home team goals for = HGF = 3 + 1 + 4 + 0 + 2 = 10

Away goals scored for = AGF = 1 + 2 + 3 + 0 + 3 = 9

Goal vs Home Team = HGA = 3 + 0 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 7

Goal vs Away Team = AGA = 0 + 2 + 0 + 6 + 1 = 9

We can now calculate the points for each team based

on the goals scored and the goals they scored against
them as follows:

Home Goal Score = HGP = HGF + AGA = 10 + 9 = 19

Away Goal Points = AGP = HGA + AGF = 7 + 9 = 16

And now we can make a difference:

Goal difference = GPD = HGP – AGP = 19 – 16 = 3

Now we can classify them as follows:

GPD => +2 then the host wins,

GPD =< -2 then away wins

16
Then draw GPD -2.

This parameter is obviously very arbitrary, but

experience should allow you to set it more carefully.

Now we need to use the GPD and one of the three

tables.

Here are the tables...

Home win prognosis

TRIP AT HOME

OBJECTIVE OF HGSP | AGSP >0 >11 >17 >26

>49 6 | 0 1 2 3

>43 5 | 0 1 2 3

>37 4 | 0 1 2 3

>30 3 | 0 1 2

>23 2 | 0 1

>0 1 | 0

Away win prognosis

17
FAR FROM HOME

AGSP GOALS | HGSP >23 >18 >13 >0

>34 5 | 3 2 1 0

>29 4 | 3 2 1 0

>24 3 | 2 1 0

>18 2 | 2 1 0

>0 1 | 2 1 0

Prediction for the series

AT HOME + GUEST | RESULTS

>44 | 3-3

>34 | 2-2

>24 | 1-1

>0 | 0-0

Since our game generates home win predictions, we

need to use the HOME RESULTS PREDICTION table to
get our outcome predictions. To do this, we need to

18
calculate one more parameter, namely the home goal
points, as follows:

HGSP = HGP + all goals scored by the home team with

3 or more goals in the match + all goals against the
away team with 3 goals or more.

then HGSP = 19 + 7 + 6 = 32

Now do the same for the away team:

AGSP = AGP + every 3 or more goals scored by the

away team in a match + every 3 or more goals scored
against the home team.

then AGSP = 16 + 6 + 3 = 25

So in the home win prediction table we go to HOME >

30 which gives us 3 goals for the home team and we go
to OUT > 17 which gives us 2 goals for the away team
then the result is predicted as a home win with 3- . 2.

Now, it's your turn…

Of course, you can choose to use values other than

those shown above, and through experimentation you
can find better values to use. If you have the skills,

19
you can create your own data tables or even write
software to capture results and games and apply
outcome predicting methods to your data. Or, if you're
lazy like me, you can get free software that already
does it for you. 1X2Monster and Footyforecast have
offered this type of facility since 1999. A total of seven
different statistical methods are used to determine
the outcome of each game in each league, and
complete records of how each method is performed in
each match are kept. In addition to the performance
of each tip in each league, 1X2Monster also provides a
league table showing how each league performs in
predicting the outcome of the match successfully.
Predictive performance league tables are built for
home win predictions, draw predictions, away win
predictions and overall predictions and are an
invaluable tool for punters when deciding what to
base their European soccer betting predictions on.

RULES OF FOOTBALL

Despite being a sport with roots that stretch back to

the Middle Ages and even antiquity, football was
never played under strict rules until 1863.

On 26 October 1863, several amateur and

semi-professional clubs from England met in London
and formed the Football Association and drafted a
"constitution" for the game, including a standard set
of football matches. Apparently, the 'rules of football',
as they came to be known, are just a basic set of soccer
rules and do not cover all aspects of the game.

The main point raised by the Football Association

relates to violence on the pitch, as games without

21
rules often result in bloody fights between teams.
Since then, the rules of football have continued to
evolve and begin to encompass more principles of the
game, also adapting football to the era in which it is
played.

A simple example of this is the ambush rule which

was introduced later in the game as the game became
more tactical.

Without the offside rule, the attackers in the team

often play a hibernating role, just defending in front
and waiting for the ball to come, so they have to work
hard with the new rules like any other player on the
field.

Let's take a look at some of today's Official Football

Rules and briefly explain why they exist and how they
affect the game:

● Dimensions of a soccer field – since not all

soccer fields are exactly the same size, FIFA has
set a small threshold for the dimensions of
length and width for the field to be playable. So
the minimum length of a football field must be

22
100 yards (90 meters), while the maximum
length must be 130 yards (120 meters). Larger
size differences are allowed for width, which can
range from 50 yards (45 meters) to 100 yards (90
meters). You may have noticed that the
minimum length equals the maximum width!
While it's really weird, soccer can actually be
played on a square field, but no one has ever
built a field like that for fun (thankfully).

● Number of players - The official rules of

football state that any team of 11 players (one of
whom is the goalkeeper) may enter the field of
play.

The number of substitutes depends on the

competition in which the match is played, but
for official FIFA matches the number of
substitutes may vary from zero to 7, with 3
substitutes allowed for each of the two teams.

23
However, in friendly matches it often happens
that both teams agree on a number of
substitutions or just go all out and let any player
come off the bench at some point and replace
one of the first team members.

● Ball In/Out Rules - The ball is in play when the

referee does not intervene by blowing the
whistle to stop play and when the ball remains
in play.

If the ball crosses the goal line or touchline

more than half of its circumference, it is out of
play and a team is awarded a goal kick/corner or
throw-in (taken by the team that last touched
the ball). If the ball hits the referee, corner flag,
goalpost or other object on the field of play, play
continues.

● Fouls – Fouls are one of the most problematic

rules of football today as they can easily be
misinterpreted or misinterpreted by referees,
often leading to disputes on and off the pitch. In
theory, a foul is called and a direct or indirect

24
hit is scored when a player stumbles, kicks,
pushes, hits, strikes, or restrains an opponent.

However, with the fast tempo of the game, it is

often difficult for the referee to determine
whether the kick touched the attacker's foot or
the ball. It is also considered a foul if the
defender does not touch the attacker at all, but a
dangerous distraction such as a high kick occurs.

● Goals - Last but not least, the essence of the

rules of football and the goal of the game itself,
goals.

To score, the attacking team must play the ball

across the other team's goal line. Attackers can
kick the ball, poke it with their head or any part
of the body other than their hands (in this case
it is considered handball). However, not all shots
that land on goal are goals, as goals can be
disallowed if they occur after the attacker has

25
violated other football rules, such as the ball, a
cross, or a direct goal from an indirect free kick.

These are the basic rules of football, and while there

are some small phrases to learn, once you get the
hang of them you will be able to watch and
understand football matches with ease. Apart from
the offside rule, the other official football rules are
quite easy to understand.

26
THE SEQUENCE SECRETS FOR FOOTBALL
BETTINGS

How to Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of

articles detailing some of the well-known and
commonly used statistical techniques to help soccer
players make more informed bets. Each technique has
its pros and cons, and using them individually will
increase your chances of winning. However, together
they will prove invaluable in your battle with the
bookies. In each article we explain in detail how
certain methods work and give you enough

27
information to go ahead and make your own
predictions. We'll also tell you where you can already
find websites that use this technique to create their
weekly forecasts.

The statistical methods outlined in this series of

articles will help you make better decisions about the
game or games you bet on.

In this article, we describe the well-known Simple

Sequence method. The simple sequence method is not
just one method, there are many ways to create a
simple sequence method and you may be able to
create your own. The Simple Sequence method is
implemented in Footyforecast 2.0 software and on the
1X2 Monster website by using a weighting factor for
each game series.

Here are the basic rules...

A match set is used to look back from the estimated

date. Let's say our team has the following results (the
last one on the right):

BTLLW

28
This gives them the following points: 3 + 1 + 0 + 0 + 3
=7

Now, to account for the current shape, each is

assigned a weighting factor, so the oldest match is
multiplied by 1, the youngest match is multiplied by 5.
Of course, this depends on the number of matches you
use. but for this example it gives us the following:

3*1 + 1*2 + 0*3 + 0*4 + 3*5 = 20 points

Now suppose the away team against the above team

has the following records:

WWTTT

They will have:

3*1 + 3*2 + 1*3 + 1*4 + 1*5 = 21 points.

HOME vs. AWAY = 20 – 21 = -1.

Well, depending on how you classify it, it could mean

an away win, for example. all matches under 0 points
= away win, or can count as a draw.

Let's look at a simple example...

29
For our example, we used the last ten games played
for each team. These are the last ten home matches
for the home country and the last ten away matches
for the host country. Match between Middlesbrough
and Bolton Wanderers from the Premier League and
will be played on 20 January 2007.

Mittelbrough

LLWWWTLDWW

Which gives

0*1 + 0*2 + 3*3 + 3*4 + 3*5 + 1*6 + 0*7 + 1*8 + 3*9 +

3*10

It's the same

0+0+9+12+15+6+0+8+27+30 = 107

Bolton

LWWWTLLWWL

Which gives

30
0*1 + 3*2 + 3*3 + 3*4 + 1*5 + 0*6 + 0*7 + 3*8 + 3*9 +
0*10

it's same

0+6+9+12+5+0+0+24+27+0 = 83

Hence the difference

107 - 83 = +24

This can be defined as a home win, but depending on

the threshold you choose, it can be classified as a
draw.

Now, it's your turn…

Of course, you can choose to use values other than

those shown above, and through experimentation you
can find better values to use. You can also include all
home and away matches of each team in your
calculations, not just home games for the home team
and away games for the away team. You can choose a
threshold other than the one shown above. You may
also find it useful to compare actual results with

31
simple sequence predictions to see how many actual
draws fall into the away, draw, and home win
prediction zones.

If you have the skills, you can create your own data
tables or even write software to use the results and
widgets and apply the Simple Order method to your
data. Or, if you're lazy like me, you can get free
software that already does it for you. If the latter
option suits you, visit 1X2 Monster where you can
download a FREE copy of the Footyforecast 2.0
software which uses all the statistical methods
described in this series of articles. You can also
download FREE weekly database updates for your
software, cool right?

32
GOOD FOOTBALL SHOES MATTERS

It is said that more people play football in the world

than any other sport and there is little reason to doubt
the veracity of this statement. With little more than
an open field, a makeshift goal and a ball, you can play
soccer almost anytime. This is of course one of the
reasons why football is so popular in some poor
countries, but it hardly explains the popularity of

33
football in a developed country like the United States.
Organized footballers need more than just the ball to
play here, and in many cases the right football boots
are required before being allowed onto the pitch.

Soccer shoes are needed for several reasons. The right

shoes will not only give you traction in sports that
require grip, but will also provide you with support
and cushioning that will protect you from injury.
Quality football boots consist of uppers made of
materials and linings that give players the best
possible touch on the ball, and in a sport where your
feet are as important as football, that feeling is
invaluable.

Since the feeling for the ball is important, the

materials used are also an integral part of conveying
that feeling. Soccer boots are usually made of genuine
leather or synthetic leather, with genuine leather
providing the best feedback for players. Genuine
leather has more advantages. Leather shoes tend to fit
better and are often more durable. However, these
advantages come at a higher price. Also, if you play on
a wet, wet field, genuine leather shoes will absorb

34
more moisture, making them heavy and reducing
their durability.

A less expensive option is faux leather. Synthetic

leather is suitable for beginners and intermediate
players and offers an affordable entry-level shoe for
the aspiring footballer. In addition, synthetic leather
offers greater water resistance and is ideal for playing
on wet surfaces. Faux leather shoes are easier to clean
and tend to maintain their appearance for a longer
period of time, although they usually don't last as
long as leather shoes.

The most important part of a soccer boot is where the

rubber meets the road; the only place the cleats are.
There are four types of soccer shoe soles: molded
studs, removable studs, turf studs and indoor studs.
Molded cleats are the simplest and most affordable
designs. The molded lugs are part of the shoe's sole
and are suitable - though not ideally - for a wide range
of playing conditions. They are perfect for young
players or beginners. Removable cleats are similar to
molded cleats but with one major difference; You can

35
delete it. By developing cleats and replacing them
with other types and lengths, advanced players can
create shoes that perfectly match the playing
conditions they may encounter in their game.

However, football is not always played with cleats, and

some shoes are designed for use on artificial grass or
other types of indoor surfaces. Like most sneakers and
soccer boots, the indoor and grass cleats have a tread
designed to grip artificial surfaces while providing the
optimal feel demanded from soccer boots.

When buying your football boots, make sure they fit

well and remember that they are designed to feel
tight, especially at the top of the boot. Keep in mind
that leather shoes stretch over time, so shoes that feel
comfortable at first will eventually stretch and
conform to the shape of your foot, making them a part
of who you are and perfect for playing soccer.

36
KNOWING GREAT FOOTBALLER - MIA HAMMM

Women's football would never have been the same if

Mia Hamm had not started playing soccer at a young
age. She had such a great influence on women's
football that she is often said to mean as much as Pelé
or Cruyff did to men's football. But before she became
a great footballer and athlete who broke almost any
possible record at her level, Mia Hamm was a great

37
person and I want you to meet the man behind the
god of football in this Mia Hamm biography.

If you're anything like me, you're probably wondering

how and when Mia Hamm started playing soccer and
what events made her a superstar in women's soccer.
Mia Hamm's childhood revolved around sports and
athletics, and as her brothers remembered, she was
faster and more athletic than most of the other boys
on the block, allowing her to compete with and
against them.

After starting to coach youth soccer on his school

football team at the age of 12, he learned the basics of
soccer and began to enjoy the sport more and more.
Little did she know that three years later, when she
was just 15 years old, she would be called up to the
United States women's soccer team and become the
youngest player to ever play for her country at that
level (one of her first records to be broken). .

It was quite a strange situation as Mia Hamm was a

footballer for her national team but did not have a full
professional contract to play for a club. But after

38
seeing his performances, North Carolina Tar Heels
quickly signed him and struck a pretty good deal as
Mia Hamm stayed at the club for 4 seasons and scored
over 100 goals during her time here.

Arguably one of Mia Hamm's most important

achievements is that she managed to bring women's
football to a level close to that of men's. She is one of
two women named on Pele's list of the 125 greatest
female footballers of all time and is an icon of
women's sports worldwide.

She has also received two FIFA World Player of the

Year awards, which she received in 2001 (the first year
the trophy was awarded) and 2002. Unfortunately, she
will receive more than that, but with the Women's
World Player of the Year award, which is nearing the
end of her career. Mia Hamm didn't really have a
chance to expand her trophy room.

In numbers, Mia Hamm is the United States' top

scorer with 158 goals in 275 games, a remarkable
record that is likely to be smashed to pieces before
being beaten. He has scored more goals than any

39
other man or woman for his national team, although
many football experts would agree that the level of
women's football is still in its infancy and cannot yet
be compared to men's football.

She won the Women's World Cup twice, in 1991 and

1999, and led the US national team to a gold medal at
the 1996 Olympics. All these titles, records and
awards make Mia Hamm one of the most important
players in women's football. The fact that Pele is on
the same roster as legendary players like Maradona,
Cruyff, Platini or Beckenbauer speaks volumes about
the influence he has had on the game.

WHY I'M SO ADDICTED TO SOCCER

A friend of mine recently asked me why all men are

crazy about soccer, or what they call soccer in the US.
I'm tired of explaining things that can only be
understood from personal experience. But even
though I could give him a good answer, he came back
with a different question. "Is playing football on the
grass any different from playing on the beach?" That's
good. "Of course it's different," I replied. Beach
football, as the name suggests, is a sport played on the
beach; preferably in spring or summer. Although it
has been played unofficially for decades, it was
recently and especially in 1992 that it was given its
official name and rules. Since then it has managed to
grow into quite a popular sport and I believe if you
really want to learn about football you better start
playing on the beach.

Playing soccer on the beach is considered by many

fans to be an apprentice's paradise. The soft sand
playing surface can correct some common rookie

42
mistakes as the ball often accumulates on it. In fact,
the sand element only facilitates the efforts of new
players, but is considered a difficult obstacle even for
experienced players who want to show their skills. In
addition, the compact pitch - with official beach
football facilities measuring 28 x 37 meters - is
significantly smaller than a grass field and makes it
easier for first-time players to make goalscoring
decisions.

A big advantage of beach soccer is the fact that you

don't need any special equipment to play it. The ball
of the right size and the sand on the beach are more
than enough to explore the uniqueness of this game.
Even if there are no organized facilities on the beach,
beach football fans need only two sticks to represent
the goal area. A walking stick or just a pile of clothes
is preferable to a heavy rock or even a boulder which
can be very dangerous for foot injuries as shoes are
not allowed in this game. So if you're on a sandy
beach, it's a sunny day and you have nine friends
ready to join you, you can start playing beach soccer.

43
If you experience it, let me know if you like it. The
most important thing is to tell your girlfriend!

When I finished my beach soccer class, my boyfriend

seemed excited. "I would play it every weekend," he
said. But before you start wondering how much time
you have to invest playing this sport before you can
call yourself a good soccer player, give it a try. Since
you can't play beach soccer all year round unless you
move to California or Florida, you should practice
your soccer skills on a real field whenever you need
beach soccer. Believe me when I tell you it's not easy
either!

FACTS ABOUT MEXICO SOCCER

In Mexico, football began to develop in various

regions of the country, with the first form of organized
championship being the Primera Fuerza, a local
league consisting of different teams in the federal
district. During this period, semi-professional players,
at a time when Europe has been pushing football
professionalism.

In 1927, after FIFA had grown in power as the

governing body of international football, Mexico
decided to create its own national football federation
called the Federación Mexicana de Futbol Asociación
(FMFA), which became a member of FIFA in 1929, just
in time to take part. in the first World Cup of the
newly formed Mexico national football team.

Despite participating in the first World Cup, the

Mexican football team was not considered a football
powerhouse at the time, as evidenced by the lack of
results in World Cup qualifiers until 1950. Despite
being a regular at today's World Cup, the team had a
hard time facing the nations. Stronger Europe and

45
South America, winning only 1 game in 5
tournaments, against Czechoslovakia in 1962.

But in 1970, in an attempt to promote football across

the country and to recognize the economic
importance of hosting the World Cup, Mexico was able
to acquire the right to host its first World Cup. On this
occasion, the Mexican football team reached the
quarter-finals, which is still their biggest international
achievement to date.

However, they would repeat that feat 16 years and 4

World Cups later, again at home, when they hosted
the 1986 World Cup, which is considered by many to
be the most entertaining in the history of football.

Today, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup is

considered more difficult than it was in the 70s or 80s
and although Mexican football has come a long way,
they still suffer in big competitions when facing
football giants from Europe or South America.
However, the future looks brighter for Mexican
football in general and for the Mexico national
football team.

46
The country's association football is now considered
one of the richest in America, and several powerful
clubs compete in the Copa Libertadores, a
competition usually reserved for South American
clubs.

A number of top-flight players have moved from the

Mexican league to stronger leagues, with the most
prominent examples being Rafael Marquez and
Giovani Dos Santos, who were bought by FC Barcelona
from Spain and are both key members of the squad.

WHO IS KAKA ?

I am writing this biography of Kaká a few weeks after

the 2006/2007 Champions League final, a final which
ended with a happy result: 2-1 for Brazilian team AC
Milan against England Liverpool FC.

I have to say, how impressive was Filippo Inzaghi

(who scored both Milan goals), my eyes were on Kaka
from Brazil throughout the game. His passing,
dribbling, pace and vision on the pitch is honey for
me.

I decided to write this Kaka biography not because

Brazilians need it, but because I want you to know
who the real Ricardo Kaka was, how he climbed the
corporate ladder before becoming a superstar, and
what this “hands up” really means to the sky” kaka
means celebration .

Kaka Biography – Early Career

After spending his early days at various youth clubs in

his hometown of Brazil and São Paulo, Kaká was

48
finally offered a professional contract at the age of
seventeen.

When Kaka played great football for the Sao Paulo

youth team, the reserve team and the Brazil U-17
national team, he immediately caught the attention of
several European clubs including Turkish club
Gaziantepspor.

Sao Paulo agreed to sell Kaka for $1.5 million, an

amount that seems like peanuts if you think about the
player's current market value. However, the numbers
are quite high for the Turkish team, especially for a 17
year old player, Kaka's young age does not give them
any guarantee that he will play great football regularly
at a professional level.

Kaka Biography – Swimming pool accident Sao

Paulo FC

In his first season as a professional player for Sao

Paulo, Kaká did not play for the Brazilian team, but

49
used this time to adapt to his new team-mates and the
rigors of professional football in Brazil.

He might have made his debut later this season, but

an unfortunate accident in the pool nearly ended his
football career, Kaká broke his spine in September
2000. Not only did he risk his future, but this fracture
almost cost him his life and he actually was in danger
of being paralyzed for the rest of his life.

Miraculously, Kaká made a full recovery and returned

to training after regaining full strength. Since that
day, Kaka believes in God and a portion of his
earnings as a professional footballer is always donated
to the church as a small token of gratitude to God for
saving his life and career. Kaká's famous goal joy is
related to this incident as he always thanked God for
allowing him to play football and be on the pitch.

Biography of Kaka - an attraction for the

European giants

After fully recovering from a terrible fracture, Kaká

finally got his chance to play for Sao Paulo in January
2001 and he did not disappoint, scoring no less than

50
12 goals in 27 games that season. This earned him a
permanent place in the first team for the 2001-2002
season in which he scored a further 10 goals in 22
games and when a young Brazilian did really well, he
was sure to get a call from some of Europe's big clubs.
One of those clubs is Milan, one of the most
important teams in Italy, and Kaka signed without
batting an eye, eager to start a European career.

You may know the story from here. Kaka is currently

in his fourth season at Milan, with whom he has won
once a Serie A championship, once an Italian Super
Cup and a few weeks ago the UEFA Champions League
(he also played in another Champions League final in
the 2004-2005 season). ., but lost to Liverpool in one
of the best finals of the tournament). He became an
indispensable player for Milan but also for Brazil.

As a Brazilian footballer, Kaká has scored 31 goals in

52 games and provided a number of impeccable assists
in his role as an attacking midfielder. Having a young
midfielder in the team has made Brazilian football
more technical and quicker (if that is possible) and

51
they are considered as one of the main favorites for
the next international tournament.

52
GET IN YOUR FOOTBALL CLEATS BUDDY.

In modern football, performance is a key factor for

professionals. This achievement depends not only on
his mental and physical fitness, but also on good
footwear. An important part of the shoe is the soccer
shoe, also known as the cleat. Soccer shoes are
specially equipped with serrations that prevent
players from slipping and support rapid changes of
direction.

There are different types of cleats for different sports

like; rugby cleats, baseball cleats, football cleats,
running shoes, etc. Most sports played on grass or
sand require the use of roller skates for the athlete's
stability.

The difficulty of playing soccer on different pitches

was recognized early in the history of football. This
means that the sole of the soccer shoe must provide
sufficient resistance or traction to the ground.

Initially, metal rings similar to those found on

engineer boots were used. These metal pins can be

53
dangerous and their use is prohibited under Rule 13 of
the FIFA Player Safety Rules. Finally, leather football
boots (or cleats) replaced these cleats.

Soccer shoes are made of different materials and can

be fixed or removed. Plastic clamps are the most
common. Because shoes with synthetic soles are
easier to make and usually cheaper than others.
However, rubber soccer shoes are generally softer than
synthetic shoes.

Plastic and rubber soccer shoes are usually attached to

the soles of soccer shoes. There are also aluminum
football boots which are usually removable. These
football boots can be made entirely of aluminum or
synthetic with aluminum studs. A new cleat system
was recently developed to help distribute pressure on
the boot. The incorporation of a new polymer material
further strengthens the athletic shoe and provides a
lightweight footbed.

Each type of soccer stick is featured for a different

type of terrain. Soft terrain tends to be more slippery,
so taller aluminum studs that penetrate deeper to

54
avoid slipping are usually used. For hard courts,
football boots are slightly lower, so plastic skates are
indicated.

Rubber football boots should be used on hard courts

as they are better for kicking. On firmer courts, the
studs don't need to go too deep because the ground
isn't slippery. Soccer shoes tend to be higher on the
heel and lower on the forefoot because more weight is
placed on the heel.

Injuries related to improper use of soccer shoes are

quite common. These injuries are usually to the knees
and ankles. The most common knee injury caused by
the wrong shoe choice is a ligament injury. Using
high-set aluminum soccer cleats on hard or hard
ground is more likely to result in injury. Ankle injuries
are usually sprains. Improper use of soccer shoes can
also cause blisters on the feet, making the feet
uncomfortable.

Many professional players still prefer to boot with a

traditional soccer boot layout which offers no more
protection to the player than the boots of the past.

55
The change in shoe design appears to be in response
to requests from parents wanting to reduce the
number of injuries associated with modern games.
Using the right football boots for the field where the
match will be played is a key factor in avoiding
abrasions and injuries, which can have serious
consequences.

Soccer players must lead by example and use the right

soccer shoes, and manufacturers must also educate
customers about better use of soccer shoes.

56
EXPLANATION TO OFFSIDES RULES

Offside Rules - Usually, football rules are easy to

understand even for someone watching the game for
the first time. If you bankrupt someone, you will be
punished. You hit him in the penalty area, his team
gets a penalty. The ball leaves the marked area, it is an
ejection. Everything is very simple, except the soccer
practice rules. It's a complicated rule, and although it
wasn't in the original soccer cookbook (which has
been added over time), it's indispensable, so I'll try to
explain it a bit.

The offside rule applies only to attackers and is

intended to regulate the position of both teams on the
field of play. Without the offside rule, the attacker
could stay in the other team's penalty area, pick up
the ball and try to score. This will put pressure on the
defenders and they practically cannot play outside
their own penalty area as their main task is to mark
the lazy strikers there.

Also note that attackers usually don't have the same

wagering requirements on the field as they only need

57
to be involved in one phase of the game (attacking),
unlike defenders and midfielders who are both
attacking and involved need to be defensive, so have
to run more. Now that you know WHY the football
offside rule exists, let's take a look at WHAT it actually
is.

There are two phases of football's offside rule: offside

and offside penalty. When a striker is in an offside
position, he will only be penalized if the ball is aimed
at him and he intends to play it. Conversely if he
missed the game he would not be summoned even
though he had a clear ambush.

The attacker is in an offside position when he is closer

to the other team's goal line than the ball and the
penultimate opponent. You'll often hear people say,
"He was robbed because he was further from goal than
the LAST defender." This is actually not a true
statement because the goalkeeper doesn't count, so
the LAST defender is actually next to last, as the
offside rule mentioned above shows.

58
Let's say the yellow team attacks and the red team
defends. The ball is at the feet of the yellow midfielder
and yellow striker a few meters further from the red
team's goal line than the last red defender. The yellow
striker is then offside, but the referee will only award
an offside penalty if the yellow midfielder passes the
ball to the yellow striker while the yellow striker is
offside.

If you're new to football, the offside rule may take you

a bit to get used to, but you'll soon be able to see
exactly how and why someone is offside by watching a
few games. Note that the position of the other team's
attackers and defenders is sometimes so close
together that it will be difficult for the referee to
decide whether to take offside or not.

59
LET'S FIND OUT THE BEST FOOTBALLERS
SALARIES

The question of whether athletes in general and

footballers in particular should make the money they
deserve is more relevant than ever because clubs pay
their players incredible sums of money every year.

The comparison with other sports is also very relative.

A gymnast will train all her life, spending much of her
youth just to put on world-class performances, but
she still won't win as much in her lifetime as one of
the most successful soccer players of the year. But
that's the market's choice, and there's no "fair"
revenue share.

Coming back to our topic, it's a bit difficult to estimate

exactly how much a player earns from club salaries
alone, as many salary details are personal for obvious
reasons. As a club manager, you want to create perfect
harmony in your team, and if everyone knows that
this player is paid twice as much as the others, it will
not help you.

60
Even the highest paid footballers could be affected if
their wages were publicly available, as a less than
stellar performance would greet them with “Oh my
God! He should have played better for the money he
made," said fans, media and other players.

The income of a footballer also comes from several

sources other than his salary. For example, top
footballers always make more money from
endorsements and advertising than from their
salaries; Check out David Beckham if you don't believe
me.

Other contract bonuses will also give them a fair

amount. For example, many strikers who are
confident in their ability to play regularly and score
goals receive end of season contract bonuses for every
goal, assist or all goals while agreeing to a pay cut.

However, given all this, it is reasonable to say that the

highest paid footballers are also those with the
highest salaries. A club will want to retain a player
who makes an incredible amount of money through
referrals and merchandise sales and will therefore

61
offer a high salary. According to Forbes magazine,
here are the top 3 earners:

Ronaldinho ($29.5 million, salary + endorsements) –

One of football's most famous and distinguished
personalities, Ronaldinho has characterized football
as a game, not a business. His incessant smile while
playing and his tricks make him one of the most
popular characters today, even though he is not as
handsome and clean as Beckham or Kaka. Ronaldinho
is also considered one of the best footballers in
history, although he had many more years to play for
FC Barcelona or his future club.

David Beckham ($29.1 million, salary + endorsement)

– Needless to say, Beckham has been more than just a
footballer for nearly a decade. His recent move from
Real Madrid to LA Galaxy for a staggering fee paid off
as American financial analysts agreed the transfer
would soon turn into a win as the sale of Beckham's
shirts and other promotional services would soon pay
the club back.

62
Ronaldo ($23.4 million, salary + endorsement deal) -
The former phenomenon, the stocky Brazilian who
wowed the world with his pace and thirst for goals is
no longer at the top of his game, although his move to
Milan has revived him. has been revived. Despite his
declining form, Ronaldo remains one of the central
figures in football today, having had an established
name and image for more than a decade.

63
THE MYSTIC TRUTH ABOUT ARGENTINA SOCCER

Okay, you know all about the passion of Brazilian

football from Ronaldinho's commercials, but what
about Argentine football? Why is it that a country that
suffers and lives for football like the Brazilians does
not get its fair share of the spotlight?

Indeed, one of the reasons is the smaller trophy room

compared to Brazil (2 titles in 4 finals for Argentina, 5
titles in 7 finals for Brazil), but still... To be honest, I
have decided that you are going to be in Argentina
used to football.

Argentine football was organized into national

amateur or semi-professional leagues in the early
20th century and despite the fact that the Argentine
national football team played its first game in 1901,
don't think that they are the same kind of national
team you have. today. Most of the players seen in the
semi-professional championships became the finalist
team in the 1930 World Cup, after which most of them
returned to being mediocre.

64
In 1931 the first professional national championship
was formed, although not all teams were affiliated
with the national association. For example, in the first
few years only teams from Buenos Aires, Avellaneda
and La Plata formed the championship structure, then
teams from Santa Fe or Rosario were added.

This early championship, called the Metropolitano,

prevented other provincial teams from participating,
and due to increasing demand, the Argentine Football
Association eventually created a full-fledged national
competition called Nacional in 1967.

For several years, the National and Metropolitan

Championships were held separately. The National is
a Group 1 championship in which the top six teams
will qualify for the Metropolitano the following year.
Argentine football maintained this structure until
1985, after which the National became a major
championship.

In Argentina, since 1991, football has had two

"seasons" called clausura and aperture (end and
opening) and both are played as two distinct

65
single-round championships. Relegation is calculated
annually based on a three-year average and the 2
teams with the lowest average are relegated, with the
2 teams with the highest three-year average being
promoted from the lower divisions.

I have to admit that the system they introduced for

football in Argentina was a bit strange at first and
took some getting used to. But I also see the
advantages of such a system.

Since the formation of the Liga Metropolitano, 5

teams have dominated Argentine football: River Plate,
Independiente, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo and Racing
Club all fighting for the title every year for the last 50
years.

Unfortunately, the rich keep getting richer and the

smaller teams have less and less chances of becoming
champions of Argentine football, with the top 5
(especially the top 3) dominating and monopolizing
the competition.

These are the 5 clubs that launched many of

Argentina's greatest footballers onto the world stage,

66
although most of them went to strong European clubs
after only a few years at their home clubs. Some
famous examples are Alfredo Di Stefano (River Plate),
Diego Maradona (Boca Juniors), Juan Roman Riquelme
(Boca Juniors), Daniel Passarella (River Plate),
Esteban Cambiaso (Independiente) or Guillermo
Franco (San Lorenzo).

THE MYSTICS ABOUT FOOTYFORECAST METHOD
IN SOCCER

Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of articles

detailing some of the well-known and commonly used
statistical techniques that help soccer players make
more informed bets. Each technique has its pros and
cons, and using them individually will increase your
chances of winning. However, together they will prove
invaluable in your battle with the bookies. In each
article we explain in detail how certain methods work
and give you enough information to go ahead and
make your own predictions. We'll also tell you where
you can already find sites that use this technique to
make their weekly soccer betting predictions.

The statistical methods described in this series of

articles are designed to help you make better
decisions about the game or games you bet on.

In this article we explain the footyforecast method.

Originally developed for English soccer pools, the
footyforecast method attempts to eliminate unbound
games, leaving you with a shorter list of games to

68
choose from for your 8 out of 11. This method was
introduced worldwide in 1999 by the original
Footyforecast site (now 1X2Monster.com). This
method is similar to the Simple Sequence method
described in our other articles in this series.

Here are the basic rules...

For each team, develop:

1. Calculate the total score of the last N games.

2. Calculate the maximum possible score for the last N

games.

3. Divide the total number of points received by the

maximum number of points available and multiply by
100.

4. Calculate the approximate value.

In (1) and (2) above, N matches can be all home

matches for the host country and all away matches for
the host country. Alternatively, N could be the last N

69
matches, including all home and away matches for a
given team.

The estimated value is calculated as follows...

HOUSE POINTS = Total points for the home team

from the last N matches

AWAY POINTS = Total points for away team from

last N matches

FAR = (HOUSE POINTS / (WIN POINTS * N)) *100

AWAYVAL = (FAR POINTS / (WIN POINTS * N))

*100

PREDICTION = (HOMEVAL + (100 – AWAYVAL)) / 2

To calculate the possible outcome of the game based

on the footyforecast method, the values are compared
with the following...

1. Predicted value 50 = Tie.

70
2. Values between 50 and 100 give a higher chance of a
home win getting closer to 100.

3. A score between 50 and 0 provides a greater chance

of winning as the away team gets closer to 0.

There are several variables to consider such as: B.

number of matches used and whether to use all
matches or only home to home and only away to
away, name only two. You can experiment with these
values.

By plotting the actual draw against the prediction, it

is possible to generate two thresholds, one for away
wins and one for home wins. Any value in between
these thresholds is most likely a bond. Any game
outside this threshold is likely to be a draw. For
example, a score of 40 or less for an away win and a
score of 60 or more for a home win. This means that
all matches between 41 and 59 could be a draw.

This method, by careful voting by the user, removes

many unmatched matches and gives you a short list to

71
choose from. This method is best used when an
English pool plan will be used.

Here is a working example...

The value shown is the points the team has earned for
each match in the last four game series. Of course you
can choose another game to base your calculations
on.

western ham

H4 = 3 (oldest game)

H3 = 1

H2 = 1

H1 = 0 (last game)

LeedsUnited

A4 = 1 (oldest game)

A3 = 3

A2 = 0

A1 = 3 (last game)

72
Use only home matches for the home team and
only away matches for the away team...

FFPHome = ((3 + 1 + 1 + 0) / 12) * 100 = 42

FFPAway = ((1 + 3 + 0 + 3) / 12) * 100 = 59

FFP Forecast = (42 + (100 - 59)) / 2 = 42

If our thresholds are 40 and 60 then the predictions

for that match are in the expected draw range and at
the lower end, meaning that if there is no draw, the
other likely outcome is an away win. This can be
interpreted as Predicting X2, i.e. a draw or away win,
which some bookmakers accept as a bet.

Now, it's your turn…

Of course, you can choose to use values other than

those shown above, and through experimentation you
can find better values to use. You can also include all
home and away matches of each team in your
calculations, not just home games for the home team
and away games for the away team. You can choose a

73
threshold other than the one shown above. It can also
be helpful to compare actual results with
Footyforecast predictions to see how many actual
draws fall into the away, draw and home win
prediction zones.

If you have the skills, you can create your own data
tables or even write software to collect scores and
fixtures and apply the footyforecast method to your
data. Or, if you're lazy like me, you can get free
software that already does it for you. 1X2Monster and
Footyforecast have provided this type of facility since
1999. A total of seven different statistical methods are
used to determine the outcome of each match in each
league and a comprehensive record of how each
method is performed in each match. In addition to the
performance of each tip in each league, 1X2Monster
also provides a league table showing how each league
performs in predicting the outcome of the match
successfully. League prediction tables are built for
home win predictions, draw predictions, away win
predictions and overall predictions and are an

74
invaluable tool for footballers when deciding what to
base their European soccer betting predictions on.

Soccer Juggling - Introduction

Juggling is one of the most entertaining skills in

soccer, but ironically, a player rarely gets a chance to
juggle or have an excuse for it during a game. The
basic rule of soccer is that if you want your team to
maintain possession for as long as possible, the ball
must stay on the ground as long as possible, and
today's game is all about old ball possession.
Obviously when juggling you have to lift it off the
ground, so the ability alone isn't very useful.

Because of this, many coaches tend to ignore it or

ignore it in practice, believing that they prefer to
teach players something that has practical use in the
game. And that, in my opinion, is one of the biggest
mistakes in coaching, especially youth coaching:
neglecting soccer juggling exercises.

To support my claim, I'll show you why soccer juggling

is so important. I'll also tell you how to juggle
properly and some ways to practice it individually,
with teammates, or in groups.

Soccer Juggling - Why Is It Important?

76
You won't be juggling almost every situation on the
field (unless you want to embarrass your opponent or
something), but that doesn't mean soccer juggling
shouldn't be done. In fact, it is one of the easiest skills
to practice, and not only that, you will see results very
quickly.

Juggling involves a number of peripheral skills and,

most importantly, it's fun! Learning and growing as a
soccer player with difficult or boring training is not
the best way, but if you can train and have fun at the
same time, it is a proven golden recipe. Here are some
of the skills that are most seen to improve with
juggling:

Ball Control - Perhaps the most improved skill when

it comes to juggling is ball control. Through
consistent juggling practice, you'll learn how hard you
have to tap the ball with your feet to keep it within
reach, what ball control is.

As you juggle, you'll also gain what I call "foot

confidence" and you'll quickly learn to control the ball
without having to really focus on catching yourself.

77
This is very important because it allows you to control
the ball naturally so you can use the extra 2 seconds
you need to focus on getting the ball so that you are
already looking for a player he can match.

Agility - When juggling, you need to make quick body

adjustments to keep the ball in the air. This improves
your agility over time and you can control the ball
faster in matches in situations where lightning-fast
reflexes are required. It also helps you make quicker
changes of direction, which is great when dribbling
past your opponent.

Catching and Receiving - This is especially true for

balls coming your way in the air that you need to
control. Soccer juggling is a quick way to judge how
soft or hard you need to hit the ball to keep it out of
your reach. While catching a long ball with your hips
or feet isn't the same as juggling a ball as high as your
hips or feet, it's still a good basis for learning how to
perform this move perfectly.

78
It is the skill that can be developed through soccer
juggling that has the most visible effect, but obviously
juggling affects many other skills to a lesser extent.
Now that you know how important juggling is, let's
see how you can practice it and how to juggle
properly.

Soccer juggling - How to juggle properly

The funny thing about soccer juggling is that there is

no "right" technique for doing it. You can juggle with
your feet, outside or inside your feet, back heel, head,
thighs, hips or shoulders, as long as you keep the ball
in the air fine. However, if you want to focus on
improving the skills mentioned above, it's a good idea
to try following some juggling patterns.

Start juggling with your strong leg. When you can

juggle 50 to 100 times with just your strong leg
without much effort, start with the same process, but
use your weaker leg this time. Again, once you're sure
you can juggle 50 to 100 with the weaker leg, start
alternating.

79
If you can do 100 or more alternative jugglers (i.e. no
combination of left-left or right-right juggling at 100
or more), start with the hip of the stronger leg, then
the hip of the weaker leg and finally with the head.

Once you've mastered all these juggling sub-exercises,

just play with the ball and juggle any part of your body
that feels comfortable. If you're at the juggling stage
where it looks like you can juggle forever and not drop
the ball, you've greatly improved your other skills and
those hours of practice will finally pay off. But the
hard part is getting here…

Soccer juggling - training

I cover how to juggle one by one in the section above.

So if you are willing to invest the extra time outside of
practice to improve yourself and your soccer juggling
skills, this is the routine to follow. However, as a coach
you will also want your players to practice juggling
during practice sessions and it is best to have them
juggle individually, with work in pairs and/or groups.

80
In order for them to practice their soccer juggling
skills in pairs, try your partner picking hands taking
mind size and juggling skills into account. You want
players of the same size to work together and not put
one foot higher against a smaller teammate as this
can interfere with training. They also want players
with similar juggling skills to work together and bring
together less experienced players so they can practice
their juggling skills without getting in the way of
other players' practice.

Imagine what would happen if an inexperienced

juggler was paired with a highly skilled one…
obviously the highly skilled would have a hard time
improving their own juggling technique as they had to
constantly wait for their less experienced teammates
to catch up.

Pair practice is easy. Players must pass the ball to each

other in the air, allowing a maximum of three touches.
Encourage them to pass the ball with different parts of
their feet, hips and head so they can control the ball
in all these areas.

81
You can also spice things up by offering small prizes
and “penalties”, for example the pair that manages to
keep the ball in the air longer gets some sort of
reward, or every time a player kicks the ball to the
ground, ask them for 10-20 assists face-to-face, then
continue with practice.

Practice your players' juggling skills, even in groups

larger than a couple. You can adapt the windmill
practice with juggling practice to some extent. In
windmill practice, 4-6 players sit in a row with 4-6
other players at the front. The first player from row A
passes the ball to the first player from row B and then
quickly moves to the end of the row. The receiving
player in row B plays the ball back to the next player
in row A and moves to the back of his own row, and so
on.

This is a very dynamic exercise that engages several of

your players at the same time. So if you want to adapt
it for juggling, tell your players to pass the ball in the
air instead of on the ground, with a minimum of two
and a maximum of two or three touches. This will not
only improve your juggling skills for your players, but

82
will also simulate how you would use your juggling
skills in real game scenarios where the ball is aired by
a teammate or opponent as opposed to when you are
single and holding the ball. juggling the ball straight
at you.

BENEFITS OF QUALITY ATHLETIC GEARS

With the right shoes, you will feel more comfortable

and have more control over your body when walking,
running, jumping, sliding or landing. Quality athletic
shoes should provide cushioned support in the
forefoot, sides, and heel to minimize shock absorption
by your foot. Adidas is known for offering shoes that
can give you that support and more. Whether you're
shooting the hoop, running on the base, or trying to
score a field goal on a soccer field or lacrosse field, the
right pair of shoes can give you an advantage. Adidas
shoes have been tested time and time again in
professional and amateur courts by those who take
their game seriously.

Adidas is a well-established company that

manufactures shoes and other apparel, as well as
warm-up gear, jogging gear, and gear designed for the
specific sport you play. This means that athletes can
find Adidas football apparel or shoes as well as classic
Adidas clothing which is the good old Adidas that you
are looking for. If you're looking for sporting goods,
you can find lots of different things like NBA kits,

84
Adidas superstar kits, and other types of Adidas shoes
like Adidas soccer shoes, Adidas running shoes, or
even original Adidas shoes. You can also find the
clothes and gear you want, like the Adidas jacket or
the Stella McCartney Didas. The company is known
for its comfortable and high-quality products.

Adidas is also known for its clothing line. Everything

is manufactured from warm-up kits to Adidas football
kits. Choosing the right sportswear is almost as
important as finding the right shoes. Workout clothes
should be comfortable, allow you to sweat easily and
protect you from rain and other weather conditions.
The Adidas jacket can be worn over t-shirts and other
clothing. So we say exercise equipment is not just for
the gym. If you are a basketball fan or know someone,
buying T-shirts and other items can make a great gift.
Accessories include bag, visor and hat.

Wearing the right shoes and clothing is one of the

most important aspects of being active and successful
in sports. Uncomfortable shoes and clothing can only

85
interfere with your abilities and distract you from your
goals and success as an athlete. So make sure you take
the necessary care to ensure you are wearing the most
appropriate clothing and footwear for you and your
sport.

INTRODUCTION TO FOOTBALL NUTRITION

Think of the average human body as a small

manufacturing facility. It doesn't require a lot of basic
ingredients, but it doesn't work spectacularly either. If
the body of a normal person is a manufacturing
facility, the body of an athlete is a state-of-the-art
factory that can achieve extraordinary results, but it
also requires a car made of first-class materials.

Your goal as a soccer player is to keep your factory

running at full speed, but it's also your job to provide
the right base materials (and in the right quantities).
This is where football nutrition comes in and if you
follow me in the following article, I will give you some
of the most important information about what you
should eat and when you should eat it.

Football Nutrition - Protein

Protein is the building block of life and is responsible

for muscle growth. As a soccer player, muscle growth
should be very important, so your soccer diet should
be high in protein. Protein usually comes from animal
products such as eggs, milk, or meat, but can also be

87
found in soy, lettuce, and some other specialty
vegetables.

Football Nutrition - Carbs

Carbohydrates are your body's fuel source, and just

like a car needs gasoline to function properly, your
body needs carbohydrates for all of its functions.

Every movement you make eats up some of that carb

fuel... move your hand to scratch your head, you lose
carbs... knock on the door... You lose some carbs...
even if we blink, we lose some carbs; then you can
imagine how much fuel is needed for a football match.
But carbohydrates are not only an energy booster,
they are part of many bodily functions, such as the
immune system, blood clotting, muscle building, and
growth.

Football Nutrition - Football nutrition before and

after the game

The issue of pre- and post-match nutrition is a hotly

debated topic, especially since the internet is full of a
lot of misleading information on the subject. In
general, your performance in a game is determined by

88
what you eat, starting 2-3 days before the match day
and the last meal you ate a few hours before the game
starts. It's a good idea to eat a high-carb meal a few
days before the game, and you can also have a
high-carb breakfast 3-4 hours before the game starts.

You should also watch out for foods with a low

glycemic index (low GI) before a game as they have
been shown to increase your stamina and
performance in a short period of time. Make sure the
low-GI food you eat before a game is not high in fiber,
as solid fiber is harder for your body to digest and it
just hangs in your stomach when you run. So, a good
football diet before a game should include:

– Low GI foods

– Carbohydrate-rich foods

– No high-fiber foods

After the game is over, the massive exertion will tire

you out and your muscles will be very fragile because
you've used up all the carbohydrates in them. That's
why a high-carb meal after a game is so important.

89
Studies show that the body absorbs carbohydrates and
other nutrients from food better 1 to 2 hours after
prolonged activity.

High GI foods will also help you repair muscle faster

and you won't feel tired and exhausted all day long
because the carbohydrates and glycine from your diet
will provide your post-game recovery.

THE WIN DRAW LOSS SOCCER BETTING TRICKS

Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of articles

detailing some of the well-known and commonly used
statistical techniques that help soccer players make
more informed bets. Each technique has its pros and
cons, and using them individually will increase your
chances of winning. However, together they will prove
invaluable in your battle with the bookies. In each
article we explain in detail how certain methods work
and give you enough information to go ahead and
make your own predictions. We'll also tell you where
you can already find websites that use this technique
to make their weekly soccer betting predictions.

The statistical methods outlined in this series of

articles will help you make better decisions about the
game or games you bet on.

In this article, we explain the famous draw lose

method.

Here are the basic rules...

91
The Win, Draw and Lose method is very simple and
takes into account the ratio of previous wins, draws
and losses over a certain period of time. By calculating
the number of wins, draws and losses for the home
and away teams and then combining them, it is
possible to generate statistical probabilities of the
possible outcomes of the match.

Here's how a typical tally works...

1. Total wins, losses and draws are calculated for each

side over a certain period of time. This could be for
the entire season, or you might want the current time
period, e.g. B. the last six months.

2. The percentage probabilities for home wins, draws

and away wins are then determined. For example, the
home win percentage is calculated as follows:

(( HW + AL) * 100) / total matches

Where,

HW = Number of home team wins at home

92
AL = number of away defeats by away team

Once you have a probability percentage for each

outcome, a decision can be made on the most likely
outcome.

Let's look at a simple example of how to implement

this...

First you collect data for a specific period and for each
of the three possible outcomes, viz.

HW = Number of home team wins at home

HD = number of draws for the home team

HL = Number of home team defeats at home

AW = number of away wins by away team

AD = Number of draws for the away team

AL = number of away defeats for away team

TOTAL GAME = HW + HD + HL + AW + AD + AL

HOMEWIN = ((HW + AL)*100)/TOTAL GAME

93
POINTS = ((HD+AD)*100)/TOTAL GAME

WIN WAY = ((HL + AW)*100)/TOTAL MATCH

This gives you the probability percentage for each of

the three possible outcomes.

Now let's expand this to give predictions 1, X, 2, 1X

and X2...

To do this we can use a simple voting system, here's

how it works:

We first set three thresholds;

payout threshold = 35%

exit threshold = 45%

STARTING HOUSE = 55%

Then we initialize the number of votes for each

method;

PRESSURE = 0

START = 0

94
FAR = 0

We now compare each calculated probability with our

threshold to arrive at a vote count for each outcome;

IF DRAW > DRAW THRESHOLD THEN

IMAGE = IMAGE + 3

SOMETHING ELSE

START = START + 1

AWAYP = AWAYP + 1

END IF

IF AWAYWIN > WAYTHRESHOLD THEN

AWAYP = AWAYP + 3

SOMETHING ELSE

START = START + 1

IMAGE = IMAGE + 1

END IF

95
IF HOMEWIN > HOMETHRESHOLD THEN

START = START + 3

SOMETHING ELSE

IMAGE = IMAGE + 1

AWAYP = AWAYP + 1

END IF

This means we now have the total number of votes for

each of the three possible outcomes.

We can then derive our final 1, X, 2, 1X and X2

predictions based on the vote as follows;

WHEN AT HOME > AWAY AND AT HOME > THEN

PICTURE

First we set three thresholds;

DRAW THRESHOLD = 35%

96
AWAY THRESHOLD = 45%

HOMETHRESHOLD = 55%

Then we initialise our voting counts for each method;

DRAWP = 0

HOMEP = 0

AWAYP = 0

Now we compare each of the calculated probabilities

against our thresholds to arrive at a vote count for
each outcome;

IF DRAW > DRAW THRESHOLD THEN

DRAWP = DRAWP + 3

ELSE

HOMEP = HOMEP + 1

AWAYP = AWAY + 1

97
END IF

IF AWAYW > AWAY THRESHOLD THEN

AWAYP = AWAYP + 3

ELSE

HOMEP = HOMEP + 1

DRAWP = DRAWP + 1

END IF

IF HOMEWIN > HOME THRESHOLD THEN

HOMEP = HOMEP + 3

ELSE

DRAWP = DRAWP + 1

AWAYP = AWAYP + 1

END IF

This means we now have a total vote count for each of

the three possible outcomes.

98
Next we can deduce our final 1, X, 2, 1X, and X2
predictions based on the voting as follows;

IF HOMEP > AWAYP AND HOMEP > DRAWP THEN

PREDICTION = “1”

ELSEIF AWAYP > HOMEP AND AWAYP > DRAWP

THEN

PREDICTION = “2”

ELSE IF DRAWP > HOMEP AND DRAWP > AWAYP

THEN

PREDICTION = “3”

ELSE IF HOMEP = DRAWP AND HOMEP > AWAYP

THEN

PREDICTION = “1X”

ELSE IF AWAYP = DRAWP AND AWAYP > HOMEP

THEN

PREDICTION = “X2″

99
ELSEIF HOMEP = DRAWP AND HOMEP = AWAYP
THEN

PREDICTION = “X”

Now it’s your turn…

Of course you may choose to use different values to

those shown above and by experimenting you may
come up with better values to use. So, you could
create better threshold values and decide to collect
data over any period of time you like. Experimenting
with threshold values and durations will let you home
in on the best settings for you.

If you have the necessary skills you could go away and

build your own spreadsheet of data or even write a
piece of software to take in results and fixtures and
apply the Win Draw Loss method to your data. Or, if
you’re lazy like me, you could grab some free software
that already does this for you. 1X2Monster and
Footyforecast have been providing this kind of facility
since 1999. A total of seven different statistical
methods are used to determine the outcome of each
game played in each league, and a comprehensive

100
record of how each method in each game performed is
kept. Apart from how each tip performed within its
respective league 1X2Monster also provides the
league tables of how each league has performed in
successfully predicting outcomes of games. The
league tables of prediction performance are produced
for home win predictions, draw predictions, away win
predictions, and for overall predictions and are
invaluable tools to the soccer punter when deciding
where to target their European soccer betting

SUPERIOR METHOD OF WINNING FOOTBALL
BETTING

Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of articles that

describe some well known and well used statistical
techniques that will help the soccer punter make more
informed bets. Each of the techniques has its own
advantages and disadvantages and using them in
isolation will improve your chances of winning.
However, together they will prove invaluable in your
battle with the bookies. In each article we will
describe in detail how a particular method works
giving you enough information for you to go ahead
and create your own forecasts. We will also give you
information as to where you can already find websites
that use this technique in comprising their weekly
soccer betting forecasts.

The statistical methods described in this set of articles

will help you to arrive at a better decision about the
match, or matches, that you are betting on.

102
In this article we will be describing the well known
Superiority method. The Superiority method is based
on goal difference (superiority) for both teams in a
fixture over the past set number of games.

Here are the basic rules…

Get goal difference for each team. This could be

either;

a) All home games only for the home team and all
away games only for the away team over the last N
games.

Or

b) All games for each team over the last N games.

Next we need to count each occurrence of a particular

goal difference. We need to do this for both the home
side and the away side. We create a table which holds
the counts and in our case we have chosen to have
thirteen rows in our table that represent the following
goal differences:

INDEX GOAL DIFF

103
1……….>-5

2……….-5

3……….-4

4……….-3

5……….-2

6……….-1

7……….0

8……….1

9……….2

10……..3

11……..4

12……..5

13……..>5

So for our N matches we will add one to the content of

each index whenever that goal difference is
encountered. This may be a little confusing so let’s
look at an example.

104
Arsenal v West Ham

ARSENAL 2 -1 0 0 3 -2 1 1 1 5 1 0 0 -2

WEST HAM 0 0 -2 -3 -1 3 1 -1 -1 2 1 3 0 1

The above shows the goal differences for the last

fourteen matches for Arsenal and West Ham, now let’s
add these to our goal difference table:

INDEX GOAL DIFF ARSENAL WEST HAM

1……….>-5…….0……….0

2……….-5………0……….0

3……….-4………0……….0

4……….-3………0……….1

5……….-2………2……….1

6……….-1………1……….3

7……….0……….4……….3

8……….1……….4……….3

9……….2……….1……….1

105
10……..3……….1……….2

11……..4……….0……….0

12……..5……….1……….0

13……..>5……..0……….0

Now each home team array count is added to the

opposite array count for the away side. So, the home
teams’ array index 13 is added to the away teams’
array index 1, the home teams array index 12 is added
to the away teams array index 2, etc. In our example
this gives us;

INDEX GOAL DIFF COMBINED

1……….>-5………0

2……….-5………..0

3……….-4………..0

4……….-3………..2

5……….-2………..3

6……….-1………..4

106
7……….0…………7

8……….1…………7

9……….2…………2

10……..3…………2

11……..4…………0

12……..5…………1

13……..>5……….0

The forecast can now be determined. If we assume

that a draw is represented by array index 7 then array
indexes 1 to 6 represent an away win, and array
indexes 8 to 13 represent a home win. So, the home
win counts are totalled and so are the away win
counts. In our example this gives us;

AWAY WIN9

DRAW7

HOME WIN12

107
The total number of counts = 28

Therefore,

Away win possibility = 32%

Draw possibility = 25%

Home win possibility = 43%.

Now it’s your turn…

Of course you may choose to use different values to

those shown above and by experimenting you may
come up with better values to use.

If you have the necessary skills you could go away and

build your own spreadsheet of data or even write a
piece of software to take in results and fixtures and

WIN FOOTBALL BETTING WITH RATEFORM
METHOD

Improve Your Soccer Betting is a series of articles

detailing some of the well-known and commonly used
statistical techniques that help soccer players make
more informed bets. Each technique has its pros and
cons, and using them individually will increase your
chances of winning. However, together they will prove

and give you enough information to go ahead and
make your own predictions. We'll also tell you where
you can already find websites that use this technique
to make their weekly soccer betting predictions.

The statistical methods outlined in this series of

articles will help you make better decisions about the
game or games you bet on.

In this article we describe the well-known Rateform

method. The Rateform method comes from The
Rating Of Chessplayers by Professor Elo and Punters
Revenge by Tony Drapkin and Richard Forsyth. The
basis of the Rateform method is that each of the two

110
teams involved in the game is scored based on their
current form. While this sounds very simple, and it is,
the calculations are a bit more complicated.

Here are the basic rules...

1. Each team is assigned a score that reflects their

current performance.

2. At the start of the season, each team gets 1000

points.

3. When the match is played, both teams give a share

of their kitty points.

4. The home team gives the kitten more points than

the away team. This is done to reflect the home team's
advantage playing at home.

5. The winning team gets a kitten, unless there is a

tie, in which case both sides share the points. If it's a
draw, the away team gets points and the home team
loses points.

Here's how a typical tally works...

Total points for the home team = HTPOINTS

111
Total away team points = ATPOINTS

Home team contribution to cats = HT KITTY = 7% of

HTPOINTS

Away team contribution to cats = AT KITTY = 5% of

ATPOINTS

so kitten = KITTEN = HT KITTY + AT KITTY

if the result is HOST WIN, then

Home team gets KITTY points added to HTPOINTS

The away team gets zero points added to ATPOINTS

and loses their 5% contribution to cats

if the result is GUEST WIN then

The home team gets zero points added to HTPOINTS

and loses their 7% contribution to cats

Away teams get KITTY points which are added to

ATPOINTS

if the result is a draw, then

Home team gets KITTY / 2 points added to HTPOINTS

112
Away team gets KITTY / 2 points added to ATPOINTS

Let's look at a simple example of how to implement

this...

To calculate the likely outcome of a match based on

the evaluation form, the away evaluation form is
subtracted from the home evaluation form and the
difference is compared with the values assigned to
possible home, away and draw.

For example, we can set the value we set as follows:

AWAY WIN - RATIO 250 150 WIN HOME

RANK RATIO = HOME TEAM STANDING – AWAY

TEAM STANDARD

So if the RATEFORM DIFFERENCE is less than -250

then the game is likely to be an away win, if the
RATEFORM DIFFERENCE is greater than 150 then the
game is likely to be a home win and if the RATEFORM
DIFFERENCE is between the two then the result is
-probably the same.

Now, it's your turn…

113
Of course, you can choose to use values other than
those shown above, and through experimentation you
can find better values to use. You can also choose not
to reset each team's points to 1000 at the start of the
season, but transfer those points to the next season.
Another alternative is running calculations, where
you calculate a pricing form for each team for, say, the
last six months.

If you have the skills, you can create your own data
tables or even write software to create results, graphs
and apply Rateform methods to your data. Or, if you're
lazy like me, you can get free software that already
does it for you. 1X2Monster and Footyforecast have
provided this type of facility since 1999. A total of
seven different statistical methods are used to
determine the outcome of each match in each league
and a comprehensive record of how each method is
performed in each match. In addition to the
performance of each tip in each league, 1X2Monster
also provides a league table showing how each league
performs in predicting the outcome of the match
successfully. League prediction tables are built for

114
home win predictions, draw predictions, away win
predictions and overall predictions and are an
invaluable tool for footballers when deciding what to
base their European soccer betting predictions on.

HOW TO WIN FOOTBALL BETTING USING SCORE
PREDICTIONS METHOD

In this article we will be describing the well known

Score Prediction method. The Score Prediction
method uses a team's goal performances over a
specified period of time in order to predict the score of
the game concerned.

Here are the basic rules…

As an example of the Score Prediction method this is

how Footyforecast and 1X2Monster handle this
method. This is an example of a match and each
teams respective goal count for the last five games:

home team 3-3 1-0 4-1 0-2 2-1

away team 0-1 2-2 0-3 6-0 1-3

We can work out some figures from this as follows:

home teams goals scored for = HGF = 3 + 1 + 4 + 0 + 2 =

10

away teams goals scored for = AGF = 1 + 2 + 3 + 0 + 3 =

9

117
home teams goals against = HGA = 3 + 0 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 7

away teams goals against = AGA = 0 + 2 + 0 + 6 + 1 = 9

Now we can work out points for each team based on

the goals they have scored and the goals they have
had scored against them as follows:

home goal points = HGP = HGF + AGA = 10 + 9 = 19

away goals points = AGP = HGA + AGF = 7 + 9 = 16

And now we can get a difference:

goal points difference = GPD = HGP – AGP = 19 – 16 =

3

Now we could classify this as follows:

GPD => +2 then home win,

GPD =< -2 then away win

GPD -2 then draw.

118
These parameters are obviously fairly arbitrary but
experience should allow you to tune them more
carefully.

Now we must use the GPD and one of three tables.

Here are the tables…

Home WIn Score Prediction

HOME AWAY

HGSP GOALS | AGSP >0 >11 >17 >26

>49 6 | 0 1 2 3

>43 5 | 0 1 2 3

>37 4 | 0 1 2 3

>30 3 | 0 1 2

>23 2 | 0 1

>0 1 | 0

Away WIn Score Prediction

AWAY HOME

119
AGSP GOALS | HGSP >23 >18 >13 >0

>34 5 | 3 2 1 0

>29 4 | 3 2 1 0

>24 3 | 2 1 0

>18 2 | 2 1 0

>0 1 | 2 1 0

Draw Score Prediction

HOME + AWAY | SCORE

>44 | 3-3

>34 | 2-2

>24 | 1-1

>0 | 0-0

Since our match has generated a home win prediction

then we must use the HOME WIN SCORE
PREDICTION table to obtain our score prediction. To
do this we need to calculate another parameter, that
of home goal score points as follows:

120
HGSP = HGP + all goals scored by the home team of 3
or more in a match + all goals against the away side of
3 or more.

therefore HGSP = 19 + 7 + 6 = 32

Now do the same for the away team:

AGSP = AGP + all goals scored by away team of 3 or

more in a match + all goals against the home side of 3
or more.

therefore AGSP = 16 + 6 + 3 = 25

So, in the home win score prediction table we go to

HOME > 30 which gives us 3 goals for the home team
and go to AWAY > 17 giving us two goals for the away
team therefore the result is predicted as a 3-2 home
win.

Now it’s your turn…

Of course you may choose to use different values to

those shown above and by experimenting you may
come up with better values to use.

121
If you have the necessary skills you could go away and
build your own spreadsheet of data or even write a
piece of software to take in results and fixtures and
apply the Score Prediction method to your data. Or, if
you’re lazy like me, you could grab some free software
that already does this for you. 1X2Monster and
Footyforecast have been providing this kind of facility
since 1999. A total of seven different statistical
methods are used to determine the outcome of each
game played in each league, and a comprehensive
record of how each method in each game performed is
kept. Apart from how each tip performed within its
respective league 1X2Monster also provides the
league tables of how each league has performed in
successfully predicting outcomes of games. The
league tables of prediction performance are produced
for home win predictions, draw predictions, away win
predictions, and for overall predictions and are
invaluable tools to the soccer punter when deciding
where to target their European soccer betting
predictions
