Work Immersion Experiences of the Grade

12 TVL Students of ACLC Tacloban

Background Of The Study

Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High
School student has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly relates
to the student’s goal. Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and
become familiar with work-related environment related to their field of
specialization to enhance their competence. Specifically, the students are able to,
gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts
and workers, appreciate the importance and application of the principles and
theories taught in school, enhance their technical knowledge and skills, enrich their
skills in communications and human relations and develop good work habits,
attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work.
The Philippines implemented a new curriculum which started last 2012-2013.This
is the shift from Basic Education Curriculum to the new K to 12 curriculum. The
said innovation in the Philippine education has been made legally by the Republic
Act1033 or the Enhance Basic Education Curriculum 2013. There are many
innovations introduced to the curriculum such as the extension of years spent in
school. From the old disciplines to the new one.
These prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher
education after graduation in this study, students were immersed in a science and
technology-based industries. The work immersion lasted for eighty (80) hours
where students performed different tasks assigned to them by the work immersion
partner institution supervisors. This program, if properly implemented, will foster
personal and professional growth and enrich students’ learning experiences,
provides opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom in a work
environment that will augment students’ academic learning and develop work-
ready graduates. Additionally, through work immersion, students bring new ideas
and innovation to industry, government and community organizations. What are
the most impact to students of ACLC Grade 12 TVL Students Of Tacloban is it
mostly help us the students to know what course they want to take in college.

Work Immersion can be seen as giving the students a way to improve themselves
by experiencing real work simulation. And by the teachers and coordinators should
develop a program focusing on the development of self-efficacy of the learners
before their deployment to different industry partners. This program would help
learners to trust their own ability and develop their self-confidence. Thus, learners
would be encouraged and satisfied to be active and motivated to finish work
immersion program. The satisfaction that the learners’ experienced, the
knowledge, skills and attitude they acquired from the actual work environments
would inspire them to pursue higher education, others would engage in
entrepreneurship and some would find an employment. Senior High School
Students have started their work immersion related to their selected academic
track or their selected vocational course.The immersion trains students and
strengthen their skill or expertise for their work in the future. It is part of the K-12
program which prepares students to work in companies.

The Department of Labor and Employment said work this is an integral part of the
K to 12Program in fully realizing its goal to produce job-ready
graduates equipped within dusty-based skills. DOLE strongly affirms that work
immersion contributes to the full realization of the objectives of the K to 12
Program. Through this program, the student scan be ready for their big step in
working and be comfortable and familiar with business-related conditions in
line with their specialization. Students experience the social interaction in
work environment that would help them as they graduate and face real life. Work
immersion is useful as it enables Senior High students to decide if what they have
chosen in school is what they want to have as a career. Being able to test their
skills. and knowledge in practice will help them develop their career choice.
Furthermore, a Work Immersion Program was also conceptualized. Basically, it
aims to expose the students to the harsh realities of environment in a workplace.
This exposure also aims to develop and enhance the work ethics and habits of
senior high school students. It would also serve as an assessment tool on the
affectivity of the module designed for the purpose.
All Work Immersion Program exposures shall observe strict compliance of all
Philippine Laws and other Guidelines and Orders issued by proper
government agencies to ensure that the exposure program would protect the
interest and welfare of the students engaged in Work Immersion Program. The
ACLC Grade 12 Students Of Tacloban terms of education, the Philippine
educational system has been developed to provide the learner’s the best. It
happened the moment we changed our own curriculum system from the basic form
to widely use one the K-12 curriculum. And just recently, the Department of
Education (DepEd) has released the guidelines for the conduct of work immersion
activities for senior high school students in the country.

The importance of work immersion must be seen as vital point of giving students a
venue to improve themselves through experiencing real stuff firsthand. This is the
very highlight of the Senior High School program. It helps students to acquire
knowledge and experience that can help them grow as professional individuals.
Furthermore, this program provides opportunities to go through the
actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipment and
documents. In effect, the work place becomes a development venue for us student
trainee to learn more about their chosen field and practice what we have learn from
academy. Experience is considered to be one of life’s greatest teachers. As trainees
they can use it as an inspiration as they gain expertise in their
respective fields. This experience will surely help them not only for their
present job as a student but also for their future job as a professional employee of
this society. Students must assess their capacity in working to help them easily
decide their career path. Students must apply the work ethics that they have learned
from their Work Immersion teachers and workplace. Lastly, students must develop
their character while undergoing Work Immersion.
