My Globalization Story

It has been said that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the laws of gravity. This
is the famous statement by the late Secretary-General of United Nation, Kofi Annan, that
captures the senses of many debate about globalization. Globalization is not something we can
undo, but we can improve. And After reading “A Story: Gio, Latiff and Laksa” , realization hits
me that globalization is not something you can stop, but you can interfuse and interchange by
the use of amity or friendship. And the story of Gio and Latiff is just one of the common stories
of how just a normal people can be become a part of Globalization. The story really implies that
globalization is a juggernaut, whether you imbibe it in a common way by the use of digitization
or in other way, like communicating with other people in other country, a friendship-
relationship.

People can become part of globalization in many ways we could expect. People nowadays,
specifically the Millennial Generation are not aware that they are the ones who’s most
vulnerable or who’s most likely to the exposure of Globalization. Millennials nowadays loves to
watch Kdramas or Korean Dramas, they are idolizing the artists of Korean Pop Music and two of
these are the very famous Group, BTS, a Korean boy group who calls their fans , Armys , and the
Famous Girl Group Blackpink who calls their fans,Blinks. And looking at these fandoms ,they are
all capable of the fast spreading of globalization all over the world. They can imbibe other
country’s cultures and beliefs by idolizing them and being other countries biggest and number
one fan. Just how Latiff, a Malaysian, declared that he was a big fan of Filipino actors Jericho
Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. How it pleasantly surprised Gio, a Filipino, to Learn that Latiff
had seen every episode of the ABS-CBN telenovela Pangako Sa ‘Yo (The Promise”), which aired
on Malaysian TV a few years back, and its two stars had developed a modest following.
Surprising and very heart melting , how people in other country praises the production of our
very own filipino movies and telenovelas and having an interchange by also doing the same.

When the government in a various country is weak or amenable, it can have a positive and a
negative outcome. Globalization as a Political Process happens. Jan Art Scholte (2005) as
mentioned by Steger (2014) points out that globalization refers to the gradual processes of
‘relative deterritorialization’ that facilitate the growth of ‘supra-territorial’ relations between
people. If the country is weak, globalization takes place so fast, specially when the government
is imitated by another influential government. And when it is said globalization takes place so
fast, people would probably think, is this good? Or bad? A weak country can be considered as
amenable or easy to lead, and if globalization occur ,this can lead to the downfall of your own
government. Positive outcome, if the government of a various country are making a lot of
changes but its not affecting its people rather improves them. And if the changes in a various
coutry is making negative impact, it can be consider now as the negative effect of globalization.
