Module 1

Learning Competencies

• State their expectations about the subject;

• Enumerate the expected conduct inside the work Immersion premises;
• Show understanding of the right conduct inside the immersion premises through case
analysis.

I believe in total immersion, if you want to be rich, you have to program your
mind to be rich. You have to unlearn all the thoughts that were making you
poor and replace them with new thoughts – rich thoughts.
Jordan Belfort

Discussion
With the passage of the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 of Republic
Act, DepEd was tasked to implement K to 12 Program. Through work immersion,
the student is exposed to and are familiarized with the work-related environment
related to their field of specialization.

What is work Immersion?

Work immersion refers to the subject of the senior High School

OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION
Work Immersion can help improve life and career skills among learners and prepare them
for decision-making in the post-secondary education setting. Through partnership building,
DepEd hopes that the Partner Institution will provide learners with opportunities for work
immersion, work or hands-on experience and additional learning resources. It is intended to make
the learners

➢ appreciate the importance and application of the principle and theories learned in
school;
➢ enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
➢ enrich their skill in communications and human relations; and
➢ develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.

BENEFITS OF IMMERSION
❖ It improves and build new skill. Students can develop new skill sets and strengthen
their current skills by immersion. Students also get to explore themselves and jumpstart
their professional development by immersion.
❖ Students become good team players. An individual who works well will go places with
others. Students who understand this early on are better able to grow their communication
skills and can be an advantage in building projects for the team.
❖ Students become financially aware at early age. Students learn how to think like
adults, efficiently handle their money, and be introduced to other related skills, such as
budgeting and marketing, by being exposed to the everyday activity of the actual work
world.
❖ Student become goal – driven – Students have priorities. By giving them an
opportunity to collaborate with and be supervised by professional and highly creative
individuals, Immersion teaches them how to achieve these goals. These individuals will
encourage learners to explore their abilities.

accountable and responsible for the work that one does and is
based on a belief that work has intrinsic value. The term is often applied to characteristic of good

and do a good job.

Ethics is derived from the Greek word ethos, which means, a characteristic way of acting.

It is defined by Paul J Glen as the practical science of the morality of human conduct. It is a

complete and systematically arranged body of data that relate to the morality of human conduct.

professional, your first impression will be excellent.

➢ ATTITUDE - Showing a positive attitude, appearing self-confident, and having reasonable

expectations of oneself is very necessary. Developing and maintaining a healthy attitude
involves setting reasonable standards for ourselves and at work and school. Such targets
should be daunting, but achievable.

➢ PRODUCTIVITY -An individual must follow safety protocols, conserve materials, keep
the work area neat and clean and follow instructions properly in order to be a productive
student and employee.

managers as positive work habits. You need to know and put into practice some effective
time management strategies in order to start managing the time you spend at work
effectively, to plan for home duties, and to handle your life at home and work concurrently.
• Believe – As you enter into your new work place
believe that you are in control.
• Ask for help – Help comes in many forms so ask for it.
• Prioritized – What’s most important?
• Set timetables – List what you have achieved and what is still pending
• Spend time wisely.

➢ COMMUNICATION is how we connect with each other. Communication must be direct,

to the point of empathy, whether it be verbal or nonverbal, and one must bear in mind
that we must always treat others as we would like others to treat us.

➢ COOPERATION involves developing good working relationships, following the chain of

command, good conflict management, and being a good problem solver.

➢ RESPECT cannot be emphasized enough that every working relationship from top to the
bottom of the chain of command is based on respect. Respect your subordinates as you
do your superiors.
