Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Jared Infante, will be the mediator between the two
groups that will debate today. We will witness the conclusion of two groups on whether or not the use
of marijuana should be legalized for medical purposes. So let's begin the exciting debate. Let's start with
the group where they will affirm that the use of marijuana for medicine should be legalized. And then
we will proceed to the group who's defending their argument for disagreeing with the legalization of
marijuana in medicine. Each group will have 3 minutes to defend their side. Each 3 minutes should only
be use to explain and give out information about the topic. No curse word should be use and remain
sitted with their respective teammates. Now let's start and hear the first group to present their
argument.

Cantomayor (Agree)
We agree in the legalization of marijuana due to its medical purposes and benefits. And medical
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Yung THC po is yun yung nakakahigh Kaya po Yung
inaaprove Lang po Ng FDA or food and drug administration sa mga pills and oils is yung cannabidiol and
yung dronabinol.Yung cannabidiol po is used for certain forms of severe epilepsy and yung dronabinol is
used for nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy. Ang medicinal properties ng cannabis
have been known for millennia and noong 2800 BC pa ay ginagamit na ang cannabis to treat cast array
of health problems. So why don't we legalize medical marijuana in the Philippines na Alam Naman
maaaring tumakas Ang state tax revenues at magkaroon ng maraming trabaho?

Delos Santos (Disagree)

Now we are here to support our argument that the use of marijuana should not be legalized. Because of
the time it was enacted into law it will be difficult to unregulate the use of marijuana, even if it is said
that it has medical uses, we cannot say when it will have an adverse effect on our health. As you said
medical marijuana has active compounds some of which are THC and CBD and based on my research
they are just a treatment not a cure, when we say treatment it's just lessen the symptoms. So basically
they are just a simple treatment so what if the patients use it too much, it is possible that it will harm
their body more. And one thing about it helping Filipinos have jobs, Yes it would really be a great help
but it is not impossible that the farmers themselves are tempted to use it. Even now, there are illegals
who grow marijuana. And if it is enacted, who will handle that? The government? Our country already
has too many problems, let's not add to them and our government cannot solve them all We just want
to prove that Marijuana is not a modern medicine. Although people have used marijuana for centuries
to soothe a variety of health problems
medical cannabis can help thousands of Filipino's suffering from different illnesses. We should be open
anywhere and anytime we should legalize for medical not for recreational.

Tatlonghari(Disagree)
There is nothing stopping you from proving that it is good to make medicine for those with serious
illnesses, so it naturally has a good purpose for medicine, but what if its purpose is not for medicine.
Besides, it will not help us that much because based on my research the evidence to justify use in these
conditions of some illness is still lacking. In other illnesses, marijuana becomes only a second option for
medicine, so we will always keep in mind that marijuana is only a treatment, it cannot totally cure the
sick. Okay, I understand what you want to convey but, in terms of being open minded, do you think that
other people who are already addicted to marijuana will be able to control it, I am sure that it will be
difficult for you to stop it especially if it becomes legal, the number of illegal users will increase. . Just for
example: Chocolates are your favorite and you want to eat them every day or rather let's say cravings.
Now let's put marijuana in this situation, if you really want to use marijuana, you will never be able to
stop yourself from wanting to use it, you will search for it until you become addicted to it. Why do you
think they do that? That's because for their own pleasure, Right? Yes, I'm right, other people can't stop
using it because they're obsessed with it. There are many Marijuana is used and cultivated in the
country, which is why marijuana is the second most used drug in the Philippines.

Alvarez(Agree)
Your points is not taken. well why? kasi nga yung pinagdedebatihan natin dito is sa legalization of
marijuana in medicine, it will not serve as a thing that people can use just anytime they want. it will be
use in medicine where people will only use marijuana if their doctor suggest it as the better option .
Even if it's only a treatment it will still help the people who suffer from those illnesses.
since mapapagaan nung treatment na yun yung nararamdaman nila. And what did you say? In other
illnesses? so it means na may chance pa din siyang maging cure for other illnesses. Possible pa din. I'm
sorry but the point here is to legalized marijuana in medicine. The key word is medicine so hindi talaga
pwede na ipasok niyo dito yung mga tao na naadik sa marijuana since they did not use marijuana in
order for them to be treated.
na madaming naadik sa marijuana pero kasi it will be use as a part of medication may ibibigay na mga
prescription yung mga doktor. They may be obsessed with marijuana but just because many people are
using it for bad reasons doesn't mean na gagamitin din yun ng ibang tao sa ganung paraan. Marijuana
may have lead thousands of people to be addicts but it can also help thousands of people who are
suffering.

Enriquez(Disagree)
Are you sure that what we are debating here is only about the medical use of marijuana? Well that's
where you made a mistake. Since your topic is Legalization, you only included medicine to support your
claim to make your statement reasonable. Not only do we understand here about the medical use of
marijuana, we are also there on the point of how other people can use marijuana. That's why we point
out the bad effects of marijuana to other people who will not use it for medicine. Although I understand
many believe marijuana is the effective treatment drug in combating their medical ailments, I would
caution against this assumption due to the lack of consistent, repeatable scientific data available to
prove marijuana's medical benefits. Based on current evidence, and I believe that marijuana is a
dangerous drug and that there are less dangerous medicines offering the same relief from pain and
other medical symptoms. And for what did we say earlier, For in other illnesses? I just want to clarify
there that you may have misunderstood what we said, because that could also be a third option, a
fourth option, and marijuana for medicine may not be an option anymore. And one thing there is no
proof yet that medical marijuana has become a cure for other illnesses. So how do you say it can cure? I
just want to ask if you did a search on your topic? Sorry, Im just kidding , So for you to be informed I
would gladly repeat that marijuana is just a treatment, again it was just a treatment and even if there is
a doctor's prescription it is still possible for the user to overdose or become addicted to that drug
because he will think it's effective so he can't stop himself from taking those meds that are causing his
health to deteriorate even more, especially if it's self medication.

Alim(Agree)
I understand what you want to express in your statement but I just want to debunk what you said that
"you would caution against this assumption due to the lack of consistent, repeatable scientific data
available to prove marijuana's medical benefits". Alam mo paulit-ulit tayo dyan because you are always
saying that there is a lack of scientific data available to prove marijuana's medical benefits" which is
According to Harvard health
publishing that Studies show that marijuana may help several conditions. It's most commonly prescribed
for chemotherapy side effects like nausea, vomiting, or weight loss. Various pain syndromes and
seizures, Medical marijuana is also reported to help patients suffering from pain and wasting syndrome
associated with HIV. And according to Philippine Cannabis Compassion Society (PCCS), said medical
marijuana would be a big help in pain management for cancer patients as well as for those suffering
from insomnia and epilepsy and other "debilitating medical conditions.” For the prescription, hindi
At isa pa we are not really
agreeing on the fact that it will be an easy access kasi nakalagay naman dun sa prescription kung ilan
marijuana yung gagamitin, Hindi yung pinaka marijuana since, gagawin na siya into pills or oils.Kung sa
mga bad benefits lang talaga kayo magfofocus then I think di niyo talaga makukuha yung point namin.
We are here to agree to the legalization of marijuana in medicine kasi, gusto namin na maging
convenient at matulungan yung mga taong nauubusan na ng lakas ng loob to fight and for them to have
hope na gagaling pa sila , even if it's a treatment , there is still some hope na pwede itong maging susi sa
paggaling ng ibang tao. And lastly did you hear ma'am Ricohermoso when she says our topic? the topic
here is THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA IN MEDICINE she made it super clear and specific so, I'm
really sure that our main focus here is the medical use of marijuana and not how people abuse it. Kung
magfofocus dun sa pag abuse ng mga tao sa marijuana then maybe you should also think about how
alcohol and cigarettes is legal for people to consume. Madaming namamatay sa pag consume ng alcohol
at cigarettes pero yung ibang tao ayaw I phase out ito.
marijuana, hindi kasi tayo na educate about how it can also affect us in a good way . You're labeling
marijuana as a harmful drug bcause you don't want to accept or consider its benefits

Palattao(Disagree)
Marijuana has a side effect as what you've said. But are you sure that it's really helpful? What if those
side effects are kinda serious and the ones who took that medicine can't contain those effects? What if
the person who uses that medicine is already weak and then there are side effects that may be felt that
their body cannot handle. Based on my research marijuana is not a modern medicine. It cannot be
considered a medicine in the same sense as, for example, aspirin. Also, It came from you that we were
not educated about marijuana so how sure are you that those who take that medicine will follow the
doctor's prescription? And how sure are you that those plants will only be used for medicine? Knowing
that we are in the Philippines, there are many abusers, so they can use those plants in a bad way.
Because you are only focused on its good effects but you don't see its disadvantages which is dangerous
if it got legalized. Even now that it is banned, many people are abusing it and using it in the wrong way,
how can it be when it is legalized. Don't counter me that "it will form as a pills or oils, marijuana itself
will not be used." How will you formulate those medicines if you wouldn't plant the exact marijuana?
That's what we are pointing out. That when marijuana is legalized there will be bad benefits because
those plants can be abused and used in the wrong way. Even if you say that someone will monitor it to
make sure it can be used correctly, it's still not reasonable. As what I've said there are many abusers we
are not sure who can be trusted. For a clarification the topic of legalizing marijuana for medicinal
purposes is only for your group. You also cannot say that the main focus of our debate is for medical use
of marijuana. So how will we answer if we focus on medicine, what words will we throw at it, will we
just agree that what you are saying is correct that marijuana is really just a medicine and we cannot tell
the bad side of marijuana to people. Our main topic here is to disagree because we will bring out the
bad effects of marijuana on humans. Common sense as well as we also know that marijuana can really
be used for medical purposes but it has really bad effects on us. So better listen to the instructions next
time.

we are here now at the point where each group will prepare a question and they will give them to me. I
will read those questions out loud and will give each group a time limit to answer their questions to each
other, and before we start the Q&A bubunot sa magkabilang panig kung sino ang sasagot ng naihandang
tanong, when the time is done, that is the sign where they will stop and give way to the other group to
also answer a question the other group
QUESTION FOR GROUP 2

is marijuana the only medicine that can help treat those people who have Cancer, AIDS, and any other
illnesses that you mentioned earlier? Justify your answer.

QUESTION FOR GROUP 4

How can you tell that people will abuse medical cannabis when the only ones who can use it are people
who are suffering from illnesses and can be able to access if you have prescription from a physician who
will give you a right amount that you can take so you can't abuse and be addicted to it?
