“Should your Ethics instructor give you a perfect score in your interim assessment II?”

My argumentative paper's topic is giving us a perfect score on our interim assessment II

in ethics. The ethics instructor, Mr. Ben Oliver, gave us a discussion task on how he would give
each of us a perfect score on the subject matter of the course. As the only thing used to decide
our scores in our interim assessment II will be our argumentative paper, which is due on March
18, 2023, I won't be expecting him to get a perfect grade. I don't have confidence in my ability to
write an argumentative paper, which is why I don't anticipate receiving a perfect score. Yet,
whether our teacher will give us a perfect score is up to him. Also, if I submit a strong
argumentative essay, he will grade us better. For the meantime, the task that I will do to get a
perfect score in my interim assessment II is to make an outstanding paper.
The first reason why I will not be able to give a perfect score is that my skills in making
an argumentative paper are not as good as those of other college students. Still, my knowledge is
not enough and my grammar in the English language is influential. As I remember, I made an
argumentative paper before and sadly I got a lower grade because the way I input my thoughts in
my paper was not as good as the instructor expected. Lack of wisdom is my problem in making
an argumentative paper. According to Shang (2012) when students are asked to write an English
composition, they may get nervous because they are afraid of making mistakes in language
forms such as grammar and vocabulary. From a psychological perspective, there are many
factors that might occur in writing problems. This evidence supports the argument because it
relates to my situation in language forms such as grammar and vocabulary. Also, I got nervous
when it comes to making an essay and presenting it in front of the students. Raimes (1983)
confirmed that problems often faced by students in academic writing are not only about
grammar, diction, and vocabulary but also how to express the idea in a target language using
their language. This demonstrates that when I started to make my argumentative paper, I cannot
complete it immediately. I had a lot of self-doubt situations while making an argumentative
paper. That is why I don’t have confidence in many ways, especially in this kind of homework.
Budjalemba and Listyani (2020) believed that other language skills writing also required
students to practice those languages that they have learned. If students only learn the skill
without practice, knowledge means nothing. This evidence supports the argument because I am a
learner who has only infrequently utilized those kinds of language in previous years. Lack of
practice makes myself being a nonsense learner as the other students/teachers mentioned the
situation that I experienced. Honestly, until now I cannot keep up with other learners in this kind
of topic-specific language form. In short, I am weak when it comes to vocabulary, diction, and
even in grammar. The supported evidence was related to my weaknesses in any situations
specifically essays/thesis.
In spite of the fact that I will not get a perfect score on Ethics, there is always a chance
how to get a perfect score. By always practicing myself in any kind of language form, I can
easily improve my skills in making an argumentative paper. There are some mentors that will
guide me well in creating an argumentative paper. According to Smart (2021), always read and
read a lot. If you aren't reading other people's writing, your writing won't get better. Remember
that good writers are also good readers. Share writing with other authors who have experienced
similar things. They can help you make corrections and provide support. This evidence refutes
the counterargument because it doesn’t mean that I cannot make a strong argumentative paper,

still I can improve my skills just to have a better grade or even a perfect score. There is always a
possibility to get a perfect score in interim assessment II in Ethics. Smart (2021) believed that
when making a schedule, write time in a strict time frame and make sure to follow it. Establish a
space where you can write. Choose a workspace where you can focus on writing an essay, such
as an office. This also refutes the counterargument because I’m a student that has no patience
when it comes to practice in language forms especially making an argumentative paper.
According to La-Gaffe (2021) that another wrong way to save time is to do it at the expense of
the research process. All argumentative essays ask for considerable research, and not having
enough evidence to support your claim can make your paper fall short of the essential criteria.
The right way to save time at this stage is to make notes and adjust the quotations to the
paragraphs in the outline.
In summary, the first reason why I will not be able to give a perfect score is that my skills
in making an argumentative paper is not as good as the other college students. As I remember, I
made an argumentative paper before and sadly I got a lower grade because of the way I input my

By always practicing myself in any kind of language forms, I can easily improve my skills in
