Lesson Plan

in
Art Appreciation (Grade 9)

Prepared by: Ericka Marie A. Cortez Date: October 3, 2023

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

1. Students will understand the concept of subjectivity in art perception.

2. Students will identify and differentiate between types of subjects in art.
3. Students will explore various kinds of subjects in art.
4. Students will analyze the concept of content in art and its levels of meaning.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Subject and Content (Unit III)

Sub Topic: Exploring Subjectivity, Types of Subjects, and Content in Art

Materials: Laptop, projector

III. LESSON INTRODUCTION:

For today’s lesson in Unit III, it discusses the initial stages of engaging with art, emphasizing
the importance of perception. Viewing art is akin to processing information from the world around
us, with the eyes playing a significant role. However, the key lies in the awareness of subjective
interpretation during this process, where selective perception highlights specific details, drawing
the viewer's focus.

Clues within the artwork act as intermediaries between the art and the observer, aiding in
comprehension. These clues stem from three fundamental components of art: subject, form, and
content. These components are closely intertwined, making them inseparable and interconnected,
enriching the viewer's artistic experience

“Correct! Very good Mendoza, you

may sit down.” (Student responds)
