Use and Purpose

Multiple
Gateways

Traditionally, multiple Gateways were used to integrate different Systems

TONN8 is designed to be an easy Interface for Integration between various Protocols

Drivers are used to translate between the TONN and the respective Protocols
Use and Purpose

Each Driver communicates in its own Protocol to the third Party Devices and is then translated or
‘normalised’ to Niagara4 inside the TONN

The normalised Data in Niagara4 can be linked to any other normalised Components and then translated
into another Protocol via the relevant Driver and sent to another Network

The TONN on the Desk will be used to integrate the Modbus Meters and Thermokon LON Display into the
Trend Network
TONN8 Hardware – SD Card

Insert SD Card before

connecting the Power Supply

SD Card is not Factory fitted, but supplied inside the TONN’s Box

SD card must be mounted before TONN is powered up

Insert SD Card by sliding down the Connector next to the WiFi Aerial
TONN8 Hardware – WiFi Antenna

WiFi Mode must be configured correctly

OFF – Default Setting, Button in Center means WiFi disabled

ACC – TONN becomes WiFi Access Point for up to 20 Clients

CLT – TONN connects to Network via and existing Router or Access Point
TONN8 Hardware - Power Supply

Polarity Independent

TONN must be earthed at

separate Earth Point,
Transformer Secondary must
not be tied to Ground

24VAC – Dedicated Class 2 24V Transformer rated 24VA with neither Side of the Secondary tied to Ground

24VDC – Class 2 or LPS24VDC Power Supply with neither Leg tied to Ground

TONN must be earthed separately at dedicated Earth Connector

2 RS485 Ports capable of up to 115,200 Baud with 3 Position Biasing Switches:

BIA – 2.7K Ω Bias with no Termination Resistor – Factory Default Setting

END – 562Ω Bias Resistors and 150Ω Termination Resistor

MID – 47.5KΩ Resistors with no Termination Resistor
TONN8 Hardware – Ethernet Connections

TONN is not compatible with

Power over Ethernet Networks
If connected to a POE Network
the Unit may stop functioning

PRI – Primary Ethernet Port, if only one Ethernet Connection is needed, the Primary Port must be used

SEC – Secondary Ethernet Port, must not be used if only one Ethernet Connection is available

Primary and Secondary Ethernet Ports are NON-ROUTING and must be connected to different Subnets
TONN8 Hardware – Expansion Modules

RS232, RS485 and LON Expansion Modules can be fitted

Expansion Modules connect to the Connector on the right of the TONN

A Maximum of 4 Expansion Modules can be fitted to a TONN

TONN8 is engineered using IQVision

The Factory Default IP Address for EVERY TONN8 is 192.168.1.140 on Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Licencing - Automatic

If the TONN8 is connected to the Internet, it will connect to the Tridium Server and find its Licence
automatically
Licencing - Manual

Sales Order No
123456

To manually licence the TONN8, Technical Support must be contacted with the Qnx Code printed
on the case of the SD Card, the Serial Number under the TONN’s lid and the Trend Order Number

Tech Support will then email 2 zip Files – one containing the Licence and the other containing the
Certificate
