ABSTRACT
Finger vein authentication is one of the most secure and
efficient forms of biometric recognition in security platforms.
This biometric recognition method is more reliable than token
based verification methods and knowledge-based methods
attaining higher efficiency and offering a better user experience.
The currently available finger vein recognition methods utilize
features from a segmented blood vessel network. An improper
segmented network may degrade the recognition accuracy. The
proposed method is finger vein recognition system based K-mean
segmentation technique along with a direction based local
descriptor called Local Directional Code (LDC). The proposed
method is to improve the recognition accuracy and efficiency in
the finger vein recognition system.
OBJECTIVE
To attain greater accuracy and efficiency in finger vein
recognition based on K-means segmentation method along
with Local Directional Code descriptor

To establish this proposed system in ATM authentication

rather than knowledge based verification(PIN).
INTRODUCTION
• In this age of increasing In information growth, the main
social problem at hand is how to solve human identity
recognition and safeguard information.

• Finger vein recognition is a personal physiological

characteristics based biometric technique, and it uses vein
patterns and human finger to perform identity authentication.

• The principle is that, near-infrared light can be absorbed

intensively by the haemoglobin in the blood of vein, but
transmit other tissues of finger easily, therefore vein pattern in
finger will be captured as shadows.

PROPOSED METHOD
ADVANTAGES
 Finger vein contains vein pattern, which is the networks of
blood vessel under the skin of finger.

 Individuals has unique vein patterns even among identical

twins and remain constant through the adult years.

 Finger vein authentication is a biometric technology based on

the criss-crossing vein patterns underneath the skin’s surface
that are unique to each finger and each person.
