Here’s what’s coming to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Max, Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount+ and other streaming services in July.

Highlights

Eddie Murphy returns once more to the role that launched him as a movie superstar in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” (Netflix, July 3). The action comedy reunites Murphy with his original co-stars Judge Reinhold, John Ashton and Bronson Pinchot and adds Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his new partner and Taylour Paige as his grown daughter.

Anthony Hopkins stars in “Those About to Die: Season 1” (Peacock, July 18), an action drama set in the corrupt world of the gladiator arena of ancient Rome. The series, created by “Saving Private Ryan” screenwriter Robert Rodat and produced by filmmaker Roland Emmerich, follows the fighters who arrive from all over the Roman Empire to compete.

The limited series “Lady in the Lake” (Apple TV+, July 19), based on the novel by Laura Lippman, stars Natalie Portman as a Jewish housewife in 1960s Baltimore who investigates the disappearance of a young girl and Moses Ingram as a mother struggling to support her family. Y’lan Noel and Brett Gelman co-star.

Set in Italy amid the ravages of the Black Death, the dark comedy “The Decameron: Season 1” (Netflix, July 25) follows a group of nobles and their servants as they try to escape the plague in a wine-fueled bacchanal in a grand villa. Based very loosely on the medieval short story collection by Giovanni Boccaccio, it stars Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet and Saoirse-Monica Jackson.

Peacock will stream every live event of the Olympics in Paris, with hubs guiding viewers through more than three dozen different sports, beginning July 26. As a companion, “Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson” (July 26) offers a comic look at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Harry Connick Jr. plays an aging rock star who retreats to an isolated cliffside home on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus in the romantic drama “Find Me Falling” (July 19).

The animated comedy “Exploding Kittens: Season 1” (July 12) sends God (voiced by Tom Ellis) to Earth in the body of a house cat to reconnect with humanity.

The first part of “Cobra Kai: Season 6” (July 18) launches the final season of the hit series.

From theaters comes the animated musical “Trolls Band Together” (July 15).

True stories: “The Man With 1000 Kids” (July 3) looks into the murky world of the fertility industry, and “Skywalkers: A Love Story” (July 19) follows a daredevil couple as they try to save their relationship with an acrobatic stunt on the world’s last super skyscraper.

Max

Arriving from theaters is “Knox Goes Away” (July 26), directed by and starring Michael Keaton as a hit man attempting to save the life of his estranged son before he’s overcome with rapidly progressing dementia.

Hulu

The documentary limited series “Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer” (July 11) explores the work of pioneering serial killer profiler Ann Burgess.

“Sausage Party: Foodtopia: Season 1” (July 11), based on the 2016 animated comedy, reunites original voice cast members Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz and Edward Norton.

Original movies: Emma Roberts plays an unqualified cadet bluffing her way through astronaut training in the comedy “Space Cadet” (July 4). Tyler Perry writes and directs the romantic drama “Divorce in the Black” (July 11) starring Meagan Good. Dave Bautista returns in the action comedy sequel “My Spy: The Eternal City” (July 18).

Disney+

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” (July 12) is a new chapter in stories of the children of Disney villains.

Apple TV+

Lily Gladstone stars in “Fancy Dance” (June 28), a road movie that shines light on the issue of missing Indigenous women.

The limited series “Sunny” (July 10) is a mystery thriller starring Rashida Jones as an American in Japan helped by a domestic robot while investigating her husband’s disappearance.

Paramount+

The documentary “Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken” (July 9) looks at the musician’s outreach to help incarcerated women.

The six-part docuseries “Mafia Spies” (July 16) investigates the hidden conspiracy between the CIA and the Chicago mob to assassinate Fidel Castro in the 1960s.

Other services

“Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus” (Criterion Channel, July 1) presents a career-spanning concert by the musician and composer, performed just before his death.

“Emperor of Ocean Park: Season 1” (MGM+, July 14), set in the politics and money of Martha’s Vineyard, comes from Emmy-winning creator/producer John Wells and writer Sherman Payne.

The science fiction thriller “The Fortress: Season 1” (Viaplay, July 16) is set in 2037 Norway, when isolationism and ecological collapse create unforeseen dangers.

“Mammals” (AMC+, July 13), the latest natural history series from Sir David Attenborough, looks at how this group of animals mastered every environment on the planet.

The fourth and final season of “Snowpiercer” (AMC+, July 21) leaves the station this month.

The horror film “Humane” (Shudder, July 26) is the directorial debut of Caitlin Cronenberg, the second child of David Cronenberg to follow in his filmmaking footsteps.
