Pakistan is scheduled to host the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Winning the trophy in 2017, they are the defending champions of the ICC event.

However, India's unwillingness to travel to Pakistan could end their hopes of hosting the event solely next year. Despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suggesting to host all of India's matches in Lahore, the BCCI would not send the team to Pakistan, as per ANI.

As PCB hopes to host an ICC event for the first time this century, let us look back at the last time they played host to an ICC tournament.

When was the last time Pakistan hosted an ICC tournament?

Pakistan co-hosted the 1996 ODI World Cup, which remains the last time an ICC event was played in the country. They jointly hosted the tournament, alongside Sri Lanka and India. 

After winning the 1992 ODI World Cup, Pakistan were given the right to co-host the 1996 edition. Since the, the country has not seen an ICC event take place for the last 28 years. 

With India reluctant to send its players to Pakistan, the South Asian team could see a similar fate, by jointly hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

When will the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 be held?

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from February 19, 2025, to March 09, 2025. March 10 is set as a reserve day for the final, in case of an unforeseen contingency.
