As per reports at the time, one of Gambhir's conditions to accept the job, was his own choice of staff. And the reports, were apparently true. As per media outlet Cricbuzz, the newly-appointed head coach is set to demand the inclusion of former Dutch international Ryan ten Doeschate in his backroom staff.

With Gambhir's selection at the helm, the team is set to undergo some radical changes - both within the structure, and the choice of players. After being officially appointed as head coach on Tuesday, Gambhir will straight-away into the scheme of things, for India's upcoming bilateral series in July 2024.

Will Ryan ten Doeschate join India coaching team?

As per Cricbuzz, former Netherlands international, Ryan ten Doeschate could receive an offer-letter from the BCCI. He would be  a part of the Gautam Gambhir think-tank, after being considered into various roles.

'Tendo' has previously worked with Gambhir, both as a coach and a player. Being an exceptional fielder back in the day, Tendo joined hands as Kolkata Knight Riders' fielding coach ahead of IPL 2024. He eventually won the trophy, being a part of the coaching group, alongside Gautam Gambhir.

He also played for the KKR under Gautam Gambhir's captaincy. It remains to be seen if he is actually selected as the fielding coach, with the BCCI reportedly asking current candidate, T Dilip to remain in his role.

The BCCI has been reluctant to appoint foreign coaches in any role in recent times, within the Indian dressing room. Should the Dutchman be appointed, he is expected to work alongside Abhishek Nayar, who is reportedly set to be a part of India's backroom staff in some capacity.

What did Gautam Gambhir say about Ryan ten Doeschate in a recent interview?

Gautam Gambhir heaped praises on the 44-year-old cricketer, Ryan ten Doeschate. In an informal KKR gathering during IPL 2024, Gambhir looked back at the time, when Tendo served as a water-boy, even with KKR playing an extra Indian player, over the stipulated seven.

When I talk about selflessness, I have never said this in 42 years of my career. And I wanted to say this. The greatest team man I ever played with (Ryan ten Doeschate), the most selfless human being, someone I can take a bullet for, someone who I can trust for life, Gambhir complimented Ryan ten Doeschate in a KKR infomal meeting during IPL 2024.
