Former India all-rounders, 2007 T20 World Cup winners and brothers Yusuf and Irfan Pathan were involved in a heated exchange during a World Championship of Legends (WCL) match in Northampton, England on July 10, Wednesday.

The two brothers, who are part of the "India Champions" side, were batting together in the middle, chasing a target of 211, against a South African side led by Jacques Kallis.

The incident took place during the 19th over of the second innings. While India's chances of winning were already over at that point with just 133 runs on board, they had to score 21 runs in the last 12 balls, to qualify for the semi-finals.

Why did Irfan Pathan shout at his brother Yusuf?

During the 19th over in the WCL 2024 match between India Champions and South Africa Champions at Northampton, tensions flared between the two Pathan brothers, Irfan and Yusuf, following a miscommunication in the middle, resulting in a runout.

Irfan, who was caught at the wrong end of the run out was unhappy with his brother's lack of judgement and a video has now emerged in which he was seen shouting at Yusuf.

The incident happened during the first ball of the penultimate over in which Irfan was facing a delivery off Dale Steyn, when he struck the ball to deep covers. The mix up happened after they two players completed a quick single but Irfan who was keen on the second run, was sent back by his brother when he was halfway down the pitch.

However, he was unable to reach back to the non-striker's end on time, resulting in his dismissal. Irfan, who was visibly frustrated at his brother for not taking the second run, expressed his anger by shouting at him. In return, Yusuf, who was also clearly upset, shouted back, created tension between the two siblings on the field.
