Two hungry lightweights are ready to compete for bragging rights when William Zepeda and Giovanni Cabrera face off in California.

Zepeda (30-0) has won 26 fights via knockout, winning three straight via the power punch. “Camaron” proved to be a major player at lightweight when he broke CompuBox records against Joseph Diaz in 2022. He followed that up with knockout wins against former world title contender Mercito Gesta and Maxi Hughes.

The 28-year-old forced Hughes, a former world champion, to quit in the fourth round of their fight. It was a step in the right direction for Zepeda, who hopes to soon fight for and win a world title.

“I have but one goal and that is to become a world champion, and every fight gets me closer to that goal,” said Zepeda. “Cabrera's only defeat is at the hands of a current world champion, and when two Mexican boxers enter the ring, fireworks can be expected. I hope we can give the fans a great show at the Toyota Arena.

“We have worked very hard, and we are going to have a victory for my town of San Mateo Atenco and all of Mexico. Nothing will stop me from achieving my dreams of becoming the best in the world!”

Cabrera (22-1) showcased his skills against Isaac Cruz, losing a split decision contest in July that saw Cabrera showcase his tough chin. World-class coach Freddie Roach trains Cabrera, ranked high in the WBA and WBC rankings.
