Friday’s bet of the day: France vs Italy, 7.45pm BST

The most famous meeting between these countries came in the 2006 World Cup final, when Italy won on penalties after a 1-1 draw often remembered for the sending-off of Zinedine Zidane.

Tonight’s tie is their first competitive meeting since the group stage of the Euro 2008 finals, when Italy won 2-0 to reach the last eight and effectively eliminate France.

However, France have won all three of the subsequent meetings and went further than  Italy at Euro 2024, reaching the semi-finals after the holders had bowed out tamely in the group stage.

France also have Kylian Mbappe in their ranks and, fresh from netting twice for Real Madrid at the weekend, we’re backing him to score at any time and add to his tally of 48 international goals.

Tip: Kylian Mbappe to score at any time @ 11/10 with bet365

Saturday’s bet of the day: Ireland vs England, 5pm BST

Both countries have new managers, with Heimir Hallgrimsson in the Ireland dugout and Lee Carsley appointed on an interim basis by England, who have dropped into the tier two of the Nations League.

While Carsley takes over a side who reached the final of Euro 2024 in July, Hallgrimsson must rebuild the confidence in an Ireland team who beat only Gibraltar and Hungary in 10 matches last season.

Not surprisingly, England are favourites to win on their first visit to the Irish capital since June 2015, when they fought out an uninspiring goalless draw with their hosts.

We’re confident they can do that and keep a clean sheet to give Carsley a winning start.

Tip: England to win to nil @ 7/5 with bet365

Sunday’s bet of the day: Denmark vs Serbia, 5pm BST

Denmark host Serbia in the second round of matches in Group A4, which they lead after defeating Switzerland 2-0 in Copenhagen on Thursday.

Serbia held European champions Spain to a goalless draw on the same evening, a big improvement on their efforts at Euro 2024, when they finished bottom of England’s group.

They played out a goalless draw with Serbia at the finals in Germany but Denmark have won all three of the other meetings between the nations and are our bet to make home advantage count tonight.

Tip: Denmark to win @ 7/10 with bet365

What is the bet of the day?

The bet of the day is a single, double, treble or accumulator that we believe has the best chance of returning a profit.

It will have been exhaustively researched and we’ll explain why we think it offers value for money.

How do we select our bet of the day?

There are thousands of football matches each week and hundreds of betting markets, but we assess all the fixtures to find the best-value bets.

We look at the teams’ statistics, current form, league position and head-to-head stats to gauge the bet’s potential.

What do we look for in our bet of the day?

Value. First and foremost, we want you to be placing a bet that represents good value.

We’re looking for outcomes that don’t just have a good chance of coming in, they should also be at shorter odds.

What price do we try to make our bet of the day?

There’s no specific price for the bet of the day, but we try to make sure it’s usually at evens or above.

At the very least, you will then double your money if you take our bet of the day and it wins.

Remember, you should only bet what you can afford and no bet is guaranteed to be a winner.
