AMERICAN actor Kevin Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner ended their nearly 20-year marriage.

On May 2, 2023, it was announced that Baumgartner filed for divorce from her Oscar-winning ex-husband.

Who is Christine Baumgartner?

Hollywood legend Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner began dating in 1998 and married in 2004.

Like her ex-husband, Baumgartner also works in the entertainment industry.

She was born on March 4, 1974, 19 years younger than her ex, who was born on January 18, 1955.

Christine is most famous for her work with E! Live from the Red Carpet, Primetime, and Die Johannes B. Kerner Show.

She is also a former model and current handbag designer who got a degree in business from California State University.

Do Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have children together?

The couple share three children: sons Cayden, born May 6, 2007, and Hayes, who arrived in 2009, and daughter Grace, born in 2010.

Christine asked for joint custody of their kids but not for spousal support in their divorce.

While the former couple have three children together, Costner is a father of seven with four others from previous relationships with Cindy Silva and Bridget Rooney.

On May 2, 2023, news broke that Christine had filed for divorce from Kevin.

She filed the claim on Monday, May 1, according to TMZ, after citing "irreconcilable differences."

Costner's representative told the outlet: "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.

"We ask that his, Christine's and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."

A source told Page Six that Costner was "very surprised" by his ex-wife's decision.

Why are Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner getting divorced?

On May 8, 2023, a source close to Baumgartner revealed that she was "unhappy" with his demanding work schedule.

The unnamed insider told People: “Christine wants them to spend family time at their Santa Barbara home.

“During filming, Kevin is not around very much. His absence has been very hard for her.”

The source explained that Christine "wasn't happy about" Kevin's "obsessive" work habits.

Another source confirmed these reports to the outlet, stating that the actor's career has often "taken precedence over his home life".

The source said: “Kevin hasn’t been home very much for quite some time due to filming, the popularity of Yellowstone, and the time necessary for his other projects. He has been in demand.”

Not long after she filed for divorce, it was also announced that the western drama series that Costner had starred in since 2018 would be ending.

However, sources told People that the cancelation of the cowboy show had "nothing" to do with the divorce of its lead actor.

Despite rumors that Baumgartner had given him an ultimatum, the insider said: "The two situations are unrelated."

However, the move comes after months of speculation that Costner wanted to leave the show and even proposed to "spend a week shooting" the whole last six episodes, Deadline reported.

The divorce proceedings between Baumgartner and the Yellowstone actor were finalized on February 16, 2024.
