STAR WARS:
THE FORCE AWAKENS
Phil Tippett and the Tippett Studio team of animators, modelers, fabricators and compositors recreated the infamous stop-motion Dejarik Holochess set from the original Star Wars series for celebrated new installment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Using the original stop-motion puppets from A New Hope, Phil and the team reassembled the scene using photogrammetry, 3d printing, compositing, and old-fashioned silicone casting.
It was a thrill for animators Phil Tippett, Chuck Duke, and Tom Gibbons to stage the iconic stop-motion characters counter-attacking R2D2’s move from the original film.
