Have you ever caught a critical piece of information from the amplified voice of a stranger at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport? You’re not alone and now, you know who to thank.
MSP announced the new voices of nine employees that can be heard throughout the terminals welcoming and informing passengers. From an animal ambassador to an aircraft load agent, these folks will tell you what you need to know.
The Voices of MSP is an annual program where employees deliver public announcements to travelers. This year’s chosen voices include employees from Delta Air Lines, Endeavor Air, Sun Country Airlines, Airport Foundation MSP and the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
“I was quite surprised when I was selected,” said Kristen Murphy, a pilot recruiter with Endeavor Air, in a news release from the airports commission. “It’s awesome to be represented here. I can spread the word, and say, ‘Hey, go check out my voice.’”
This is the third annual Voices of MSP program, which opens its casting call to employees each November. The announcements are recorded at MAC’s on-site audio studio and local judging committees select winners based on sample recordings.
This year’s recorded voices can be heard in terminal lobbies, concourses, exits, trams, baggage carousels, moving walkways and parking ramps, according to the news release.
The folks behind the voices are:
- Jamel Anderson, a driver and operator for MSP Fire Department
- Christina Bigelow, an animal ambassador volunteer with MAC
- Keith Boser, a sergeant for the Airport Police Department
- Bob Ernt, a travelers assistance volunteer with the Airport Foundation MSP
- Lindsay Jones, an administrative coordinator for MAC
- Jack Leigh, an aircraft load agent for Delta Air Lines
- Lisa Meuwissen, a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines
- Kristen Murphy, a talent acquisition and pilot recruiter for Endeavor Air
- Troy Whelan, a workforce management specialist for Sun Country Airlines
Whelan, whose safety message can be heard in Terminal 1, said “I have a passion for aviation, aircraft and MSP Airport, and I thought it would be a fun thing to do,” according to the release. “It makes you feel good to be a partner with the airport on something like this.”
