Separate weekend shootings in St. Paul injured two teens, ages 15 and 16, police said.

In one incident, officers responded to a shooting in the North End about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Two groups of people had argued, one person fired shots and a 15-year-old girl was shot in the foot in the 900 block of Woodbridge Street, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesman. She was taken to the hospital.

The other shooting, which Ernster said was unrelated, happened about 5 p.m. Saturday in Payne-Phalen. Someone fired shots in the 700 block of Case Avenue and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the wrist, Ernster said.

Officers applied a tourniquet to the teen’s arm to control the bleeding and St. Paul Fire medics took him to the hospital.

Police did not find the shooter, who ran away. The department did not announce an arrest in either shooting as of Monday afternoon.

Investigators are looking into the circumstances of both shootings and ask anyone with information to call police at 651-291-1111.

Shootings are on the decline in St. Paul. There have been 57 people injured in shootings this year, compared to 68 at the same time last year, according to the police department.
