Maplewood police say a man was found fatally shot in a camper trailer Thursday night and they’re investigating the death as a homicide, marking the second one in two days in the city.

Police and fire responded at 7:55 p.m. to the 2600 block of Elm Street North on the report of a 38-year-old man found dead in a camper trailer.

He died of multiple gunshot wounds, police said Friday.

No additional details were released Friday by police, who are getting assistance in the investigation from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

On Wednesday night, a 23-year-old woman was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene and was later arrested, police said. In that case, a 34-year-old St. Paul woman was charged Friday with second-degree unintentional murder while committing a felony and second-degree assault.

Before Wednesday, Maplewood had no homicides this year. The city had none last year.
