Donald Trump beat his own record of longest convention acceptance speech. How long was it?

Former president Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election in a record-setting long speech Thursday.

His remarks lasted more than 92 minutes. That is the longest acceptance speech in convention history, NBC News and ABC News reported. The previous record was approximately 74 minutes, also set by Trump in 2016, according to The American Presidency Project.

Though he started his speech with his first retelling of Saturday's assassination attempt, it later turned into rambling with lots of tangents. USA TODAY reporters attending the convention in Milwaukee said the crowd seemed to become less engaged throughout the speech.

In that time, Trump put forth his conservative vision for the country, took jabs at President Joe Biden's tenure in office and thanked America for the support he received after being shot in the ear.
