A stepping-stone to reaching the triple billion targets

Evidence-informed decision-making is a critical success factor on the road to reaching the WHO triple billion targets and health-related Sustainable Development Goals. By translating the best available evidence into viable policy options and actionable health interventions, EVIPNet actively contributes to delivering better care, emergency preparedness, and health outcomes to more people.

Across its global network of country teams, regional partners, and local actors, EVIPNet:

  • strengthens local capacity to make better use of evidence in policy-making;
  • invests in institutional knowledge translation platforms, empowering Member States to sustainably build capacities in evidence-informed decision-making;
  • nurtures the relationship building and the exchange of best practices in its growing community of practice, disseminating successful methods and tools in evidence-informed decision- and policy-making;
  • monitors and evaluates evidence-to-policy processes in different contexts.

Tried and tested tools: The EVIPNet approach

EVIPNet members work with a tried and tested set of tools. EVIPNet convenes multisectoral country teams of policy-makers, researchers, and civil society actors to identify and address national health priority topics. Together, they draw on the best available global and local evidence, alongside insights from data analysis, modeling studies, monitoring & evaluation, behavioural / implementation research, technology assessments, cost-effectiveness analysis, and guidelines. Adding the insights of patients, health professionals, citizens, and affected communities, they design appropriate solutions, appraise different policy options, and implement and monitor interventions.
