Framework for national surveillance and control plans for Aedes vectors in the Pacific

Übersicht

Populations in Pacific island countries and areas (‎PICs)‎ remain vulnerable to outbreaks of diseases carried by Aedes mosquitoes for which there are no available vaccines or specific treatments, e.g. dengue, chikungunya, and Zika virus disease. Many PICs do not have vector surveillance and control plans in place to ensure preparedness for Aedes-borne disease outbreaks and have limited local capacity to mount an effective response. This framework is designed to assist vector-borne disease control programmes in PICs to plan for the prevention and response to Aedes-borne diseases. It outlines information to be included in national vector surveillance and control plans (‎VSCPs)‎ and provides guidance on implementing these plans considering local epidemiology and resource availability.
