Babel

[edit]

Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:fa-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can add links to your userpage on Wikipedia e.g. fa:User:HaDi. --Tobias1984 (talk) 21:10, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Persian articles

[edit]

Hello.

Can you translate and upload en:Geology of Azerbaijan and en:Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall in Persian Wikipedia? They don't have to be long.

Yours sincerely, Sondrion (talk) 23:20, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Qanats & etc.

[edit]

Please stop playing with qanats and other topics, you're doing damage and nothing else. --Orijentolog (talk) 00:20, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I removed a commons link to merge two wkidata items. "playing" and "damage"? Which edit(s)? HADI (talk) 07:21, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First thing: These two (aqueducts and qanats) are different subjects and can not be merged. There are aqueducts in Iran which are not qanats. Even if en.wiki has only the former ones and fa.wiki only the latter ones, that's no reason for merging. Second thing: You were adding "qanat" as instance of (P31) for three qanats [1][2][3], and all already have it. That's playing, without checking. Third thing: you were replacing correct coordinates with wrong ones in Qasr-e Bahram Caravanserai. Of course, you did not even checked them, but thinking importing from fa.wiki is a good idea. It is not, so please do not do it in future. I personally checked coords of thousands of buildings in Iran, and from my experience 30-40% coords on fa.wiki are wrong. Sometimes tens of meters, sometimes even hundreds of kilometers! --Orijentolog (talk) 09:57, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know that aqueducts and qanats are different, but as you can see in this item Q7488789, in fa.wiki all subcategoreies translated "aqueducts" to "qanat" by other users, so I did the same like other categories title . You're right about second and third, Im not familiar with wikidata well and I thought wikidata prevents duplicate "instance of" automatically. About coordinates: I import coordinates from Google Maps or Google Earth and for Qasr-e Bahram Caravanserai I think there was a mistake when I copied coordinates from URL. Thanks for feedback and I will consider them for future edits. HADI (talk) 17:50, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it's confusing on fa.wiki and other projects. Just look at this en.wiki category and articles inside it, all awful. We have also issues on Commons because aqueducts as water supply systems and aqueducts as bridges are not yet separated. I hope all this will be solved in near future. Regarding the Google Maps, it's also full of mistakes so it's not wise to copy from it. I dare to say the best situation is here because I personally spent a lot of time to fix it. I think over 10,000 of buildings & places. :) --Orijentolog (talk) 08:39, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I moved "Qanat" categories on fa.wiki to "aqueduct". Category:Qanats in Iran (Q111809642) is a subcategory of Category:Aqueducts in Iran (Q24080668) now. HADI (talk) 14:15, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
