Dowry in Islam (Mahr)

[edit]

Hi Mike Peel. I discovered this morning that all my additions in the mahr (Q902443) page (Dowry in Islam) have been canceled. In particular, these authority links have been targeted:

  1. LCAuth: https://id.loc.gov/authorities/sh2022006551
  2. LCAuth: https://id.loc.gov/authorities/sh85039242
  3. LCClass: https://id.loc.gov/authorities/classification/BP190.5.D69
  4. FAST: https://id.worldcat.org/fast/2060623
  5. FAST: https://id.worldcat.org/fast/897273
  6. IdRef: https://www.idref.fr/17523244X
  7. BnF: https://catalogue.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cb16729423j
  8. BNE: https://datos.bne.es/resource/XX547746

All the beautiful and patient work that I have brought to this page has been canceled. I am afraid that all the other pages that I have improved and enriched will suffer the same fate. SOS! Soufiyouns (talk) 06:28, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Soufiyouns: I'm sorry to hear this. I don't know much about this topic, so I suggest that you first ask @كريم رائد: why they reverted your changes, and if they don't give you a good answer, then raise it at Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard. All of the edits are all preserved in the article history, and they can easily be restored if appropriate. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:21, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Peel: Thank you very much for your compassion and solidarity with my modest contribution in Wikidata. Indeed, this is not the first time that I have undergone this sad intervention, because the page houri saw the deletion by the same user of the following authority links:
  1. LCAuth: https://id.loc.gov/authorities/sh2021000097
  2. FAST: https://id.worldcat.org/fast/2061256
I did not then consider it necessary to call on my sincere friends in Wikidata, and I corrected this vandalism while continuing to improve the page houri (Q290015). But this time, he did not just delete 1,943 letters as was the case with the page houri (Q290015), but he crossed the threshold of 62,276 letters deleted in the page mahr (Q902443) without any explanation or comment or justification. I am currently intervening on pages related to religion, mysticism, morality and ethics, and I think that we should wisely try to understand the reasons of this user and his desire to remove authority links: LCAuth, FAST, LCClass, GND, IdRef, BnF, BNE, etc. Regards. Soufiyouns (talk) 06:29, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Peel and @Soufiyouns regarding to mahr (Q902443) I think there are many wrong edits, such as language of work or name (P407), official language (P37), has use (P366) chastity in Islam (Q16125813) and facet of (P1269) family in Islam (Q25454366) regarding to houri (Q290015) apologies, it seems to be wrong by me (I wanted to revert my edit, but found him updated the item). Soufiyouns has many wrong edits, e.g. Jahannam (Q58418) and he was warned at his user talk of his edits at Wikidata (as it affects on ar: Template: بطاقة عامة) here and here. Unfortunately, he doesn't respond to the warnings. I wish he responded. كريم رائد (talk) 10:16, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @كريم رائد:. It sounds like you and @Soufiyouns: need to talk more (and Soufiyouns, please do respond to the warnings!). I suggest avoiding blanket reverts, and instead provide explanations in edit summaries if individual changes need to be reverting (it's easier for others to understand at least, and it would probably also help to understand why the edits are problematic). I think you should also find someone who is knowledgeable in this topic to help both of you here. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:37, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mike Peel that's fine by me. I'll explain why I revert his edits if they not correct (by using the restore button or the undo button) or ping to Bassem, who is knowledgeable in this topic and also an admin. Thank you for your advice. كريم رائد (talk) 20:06, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Peel: Many thanks for your suggestion to avoid general blanket reverts, and instead provide explanations in edit summaries if individual edits need to be reverted. Dialogue and discussion can help us enrich Wikidata as a knowledge database. What do you suggest now to enrich the mahr (Q902443) page which was previously blanked in order to incorporate the authority links which were deleted: LCAuth 1, LCAuth 2, LCClass, FAST 1, FAST 2, IdRef, BnF, BNE, etc. Regards. --Soufiyouns (talk) 07:17, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
