Pres. Joseph R. Biden Ancestor Table in American Ancestors

The latest edition of American Ancestors provide a current table for President Biden. Here is the reference:

Bannerman, Alexander and Roberts, Gary Boyd. An Ancestor Table, as Currently Known, of President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. Boston, MA: American Ancestors, Vol. 21, No. 4., Winter 2021. Pages 28-31.

The table is set up in ahnentafel for all known ancestors for nine generations. Several sources are listed, along with notes.

This article is likely of interest to the Presidents team and could help to add birth/death dates, clarify birth/death locations, add ancestors.

NOTE:  The WikiTree profile linked above is to President Biden's father, not to President Biden.

Is there a reason why the data file has a German name 'ahnentafel' when this is an English-language database?  Is there some overlap with the German 'Ahnenerbe'?  Are 'Runes' part of the picture?

Hello Blake, even Wikitree uses the Ahnen numbering system for profiles. You can find it under 'Family Tree and Tool.' This Wikitree basic ancestor view uses the ahnen numbering system.

Wikipedia gives a good description of Ahnentafel (German for 'Ancestor Table'): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahnentafel

President Biden's Wikitree profile is not open because he is a living president. I did not know his Wikitree ID number, so listed his father. I apologize for any inconvenience.

The American Ancestors article about his ancestry just arrived in my mailbox and wanted to make Wiki-colleagues aware of the article and the information available to the US Presidents Project team if they so wished to access or use it. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you!

For everyone's benefit, the US Presidents Project only manages the first 4 generations of ancestors, there is a lot of information in this article that has not been added to WikiTree at this time.

Hi N Gauthier,

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

American Ancestors is published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS). It is a paid subscription and can be accessed online with NEHGS membership. I receive my magazine by mail. I cannot rightfully access the article online  and make it available as a link, nor can I scan the article and make it available free to the public as it would not be ethical.

I felt that both of the articles I cited from this quarterly  magazine (the other article is about the Abraham Lincoln/Robert E. Lee DNA study) would be of interest to various Wikitreers. I did list the citations for both articles as they can be accessed at any local Family History Center. Some Family History Centers are opened on a limited basis now, and more will be opening as of April 2021 as the pandemic curve bends downward. I wanted to alert our Wikitree family as a courtesy based on any interest in these topics.

As mentioned at the top, here is the citation for the article and, hopefully, you will be able to obtain this at your local Family History Center, or perhaps a friend can make their NEHGS access available to you:

Bannerman, Alexander and Roberts, Gary Boyd. An Ancestor Table, as Currently Known, of President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. Boston, MA: American Ancestors, Vol. 21, No. 4., Winter 2021. Pages 28-31.
