CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - A trio of Coastal Carolina Chanticleers had their names called during the 2024 MLB Draft.

Sam Antonacci, Derek Bender and Alexander Meckley were each picked during the draft, marking the 28th straight season Coastal has had at least one player selected.

Antonacci was a fifth-round selection by the Chicago White Sox. The infielders started all 61 games for the Chants last season and had a team-leading .367 batting average and .523 on-base percentage.

Bender was picked in the sixth round by the Minnesota Twins after batting .326 over the past three years in Conway. His 2023 season was notable as he finished among the top hitters in the Sun Belt Conference with a .357 average and 43 RBIs.

The Washington Nationals selected Meckley in the 12th round. The only pitcher from Coastal taken in the draft, Meckley went 4-4 on the year with 21 appearances and nine starts. He totaled 57 strikeouts on the year.
