OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Saturday is a 6 First Alert Weather Day due to the potential for severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening hours.

The morning hours look quite but the weather looks to get busier in the afternoon and evening.

Storms look to develop near the Kansas border and in northwest Missouri around 1 PM. The highest chances for more widespread storms comes after 3 PM along and south of Interstate 80. This does mean that the forecast looks like it will hold out alright for the Spring Game in Lincoln; however, you will want to stay weather aware if you stay around after the game with the potential for an early storm by 3PM.

The storms will start south of the metro and move northeast as the afternoon goes on and into the evening.

The greatest threat looks like hail from these storms but gusty winds and a tornado or two are also possible, especially south of Interstate 80. Rainfall could also be heavy with these individual storms.

The severe threat will begin to drop after 11 PM. Scattered thunderstorms are likely to continue through the night though.

Scattered storms are likely on Sunday as well. At this time, these do not carry a large severe threat; however, we will be monitoring the chance for a strong storm or two, especially in southwest Iowa in the late afternoon hours.
