BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska’s governor is setting off on a summer tour to continue promoting tax legislation he introduced in this year’s session.

Gov. Pillen will hold a series of town halls to inform the public on his goal of lifting the tax burden off property taxes in Nebraska.

Lawmakers moved past the bill without a vote, but Gov. Pillen has pledged to call a special session later this summer to continue the debate.

“While we are counting on the Legislature to develop the right solution, all Nebraskans must be part of this conversation,” Gov. Pillen said in a press release Wednesday. “The Legislature failed to pass any property tax relief in the regular session but we will finish the job in a special session.”

The governor’s first stop will be right here in the Omaha metro, as he’s set to host a public meeting at Bellevue University’s Criss Auditorium at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

“All ideas are on the table, but we must pass a plan that provides transformative property tax relief to hardworking Nebraskans. We must get this done,” Gov. Pillen said.
