OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Wednesday night, the community that mobilized to find a missing 80-year-old Omaha man, came together again to remember him.

Levi Blake went missing last summer. His body was identified this past weekend.

“He was a very strong person,” said his son, Terrance Collier. “It’s a real blessing for me to have these people around because it takes special people to make a difference.”

After a summer of searching, flyers in the hands of hopeful friends and family, even Omaha Police offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to Blake, it’s an unwanted outcome for the family, but they needed something tangible.

“I just need closure. We all need closure,” said his daughter to 6 News in September while they were searching for Blake.

Now they have some closure.

“Just happy that he has peace and happy that my family is getting closure,” said Collier.

This vigil is not the end of Levi Blake’s story. His son Terrance founded an organization to help other families get through the unimaginable experience of finding a missing loved one.

“That’s what propels me forward with the Levi Blake Foundation. I’ve got to keep going...to try and prevent if not be preventive of having this happen again,” said Blake’s son.
