OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Every year, around .25% of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score.

An Elkhorn High School senior is now a part of that exclusive club.

Logan Kieckhafer is always keeping himself busy. He’s involved in theatre, show choir, placed 5th in state for speech and plays tennis and the piano. He’s in the National Honor Society and is a National Merit Finalist. In his free time, he also wrote and published a book.

“I’ve always been one to enjoy school and enjoy learning.”

But his newest success is earning a perfect score on the ACT.

“It was a bit nerve racking but at the same time, I felt very prepared for it. I recognized the questions, I knew what to do, I had taken practice tests ahead of time.”

Logan is one of two students at Elkhorn High celebrating that perfect 36.

“Which a lot of that credit goes to our school in general as far as the fact that we had two perfect scores just says a lot about our teachers and our principal and counselor who were congratulating us.”

The graduating senior is off to the University of Tulsa in the fall with plans to study physics and math.

For any high schoolers nervous to take their ACT, his advice is simple.

“Preparation doesn’t start a couple of months in advance of the ACT. The best prep work isn’t out of an ACT prep book. The best prep work comes from your classes starting freshman year and throughout high school and doing the best you can in those classes and trying to retain the information the best you can and not forgetting it right after the final exam.”

Logan earned a 35 the first time he took the ACT, but wasn’t quite satisfied. He knew he had a good chance of earning that perfect score the second time, and he did.
