OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - For the second straight year and only the second time in program history, the Mavericks are headed to the NCAA Softball Tournament. After becoming back-to-back Summit League Tournament champions, Omaha secured their spot in the field of 64 teams.

The journey to Oklahoma City begins in Columbia, Missouri for the Mavs. Omaha will face the hosts, seventh-seeded Mizzou, on Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The other two teams in the Columbia regional are Indiana and Washington.

“Last year was kinda just like soaking in the first time getting to go to an NCAA Regional and now it’s like alright we know what we need to do to be able to win some games down there,” said senior pitcher Kamryn Meyer. “I think that’s just going to be our mentality going in.”

Last year in the NCAA Regional, Omaha lost their first game to Louisiana. The Mavs then won their second against Prairie View A&M, only to play Louisiana again and ultimately be eliminated by the Ragin’ Cajuns.
