OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Blue skies and lots of sunshine brought a warm but quiet day to the Omaha metro. Temperatures jumped into the mid-80s for the late afternoon and early evening, but light winds and low humidity should still keep things feeling pretty comfortable for the evening hours. Temperatures will hold onto the low 80s through 7pm or so, but will quickly cool down as we pass sunset. The light winds and low humidity should make for some great conditions to get outside this evening. Temperatures should drop back to around 70 by 10pm, and continue to cool into the 60s and 50s overnight. May be a nice night to open up some windows and let in some of that cooler air.

Monday morning starts off nice and cool especially for mid-June. Temperatures likely settle into the low and mid-50s across the area. Low humidity and light winds will still be in place, so it should feel great for the morning hours. We’ll see plenty of sunshine once again, leading to a quick warm-up. Temperatures should be back into the mid and upper 70s by Noon, with afternoon highs in the low 80s around the metro. Overall a very nice early summer day.

Things start to get a little warmer and more humid by Tuesday. A cold front will try to push through during the morning hours and could kick off an isolated storm, but it looks like most of the area will stay dry. Despite that front moving through, temperatures will still be quite warm with highs in the mid-80s. We’ll feel a little more humidity on Tuesday as well.

The heat and humidity really builds by Wednesday. We could see our first official 90 degree day of the year for Omaha on Wednesday as highs are expected to climb to around 90 degrees. The humidity will likely make it feel like it is in the low 90s. The heat only increases on Thursday as highs are expected to climb into the mid-90s. With the humidity, it’s possible that the heat index could approach 100 degrees. There is a slight chance for a storm Thursday evening or overnight, but coverage looks limited at this time.

A slightly stormier weather patter tries to move in for Friday and the weekend, with near daily storm chances. The highest chances appear to come in the evening and overnight hours, hopefully allowing the games at the College World Series to go on uninterrupted. The timing of any storms is still difficult to pin down this far out. However, it will be quite warm and humid, with highs in the mid to upper 80s every day, with some low 90s possible as well.
