6 FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Water main break to impact traffic to I-480 in downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Wednesday may have been a holiday, but M.U.D. crews were as busy as ever.

The reason was a water main break near the intersection of 17th and Davenport.

While the water flow was stopped, the impacts will spill into the coming weeks. 17th Street will be closed to traffic between Capitol and Davenport for two weeks while repairs are done on the road.

This is a popular route to get to westbound Interstate 480, so traffic trying to get to the interstate will be impacted. You can technically go around the block on 16th to get to that westbound I-480 entrance just north of the closure. However, the easier way will be to use 13th Street to enter I-480.

Keep in mind that this area will be very busy with College World Series traffic. Many who attend the CWS also use the parking lots near the interstate; access to these may be restricted some with the work being done.

Another option for those looking to get to Interstate 480 is to go west on Dodge and enter from there. Any backups or further complications to commutes will be provided on our traffic blog.
