LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - Jalyn Gramstad, a quarterback from Iowa’s Northwestern College, is transferring to Nebraska football.

Gramstad, the reigning NAIA player of the year, threw 3,681 yards along with 35 touchdowns for the Raiders last season.

The Lester, Iowa native attended a Huskers postgraduate camp earlier this month.

Gramstad joins a quarterback room that includes five-star freshman Dylan Raiola, Bellevue West product Danny Kaelin and Heinrich Haarberg, who started eight games for Nebraska last season.

“If someone is available, we’re going to do our best and our due diligence,” Matt Rhule told reporters Thursday prior to Gramstad’s announcement. “It will create a lot of competition here. This group is such a great group in that they love competition. So we’ll probably be recruiting all the way until July 31.”
