OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Monday and Tuesday are 6 First Alert Weather Days for the hottest weather of the summer so far. With very high humidity in place, the heat index may top out near 105 degrees during the afternoon and evening. Warm overnight temperatures will provide little relief from the heat.

A steady south wind developing late Sunday night and lasting through Tuesday will help to pull in very high humidity levels as well as some very warm air. Sunny skies on Monday and through most of Tuesday will help both days to see high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s across the area, bringing some of the hottest weather we have seen so far this year. With the thick humidity, there will be very little cooling that happens at night meaning little to no relief from the very warm conditions.

The hot air combined with the high humidity levels will produce heat index readings, or feels like temperatures, of at least 100 degrees for both Monday and Tuesday afternoon. The heat index will likely approach 105 degrees, especially on Monday, and could exceed 105 degrees for parts of the area. A cold front will move through Tuesday evening or Tuesday night and could kick off a few scattered storms. Some relief from the heat in the form of slightly cooler air with highs in the 80s is expected for the second half of the week.
