OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Very warm and humid conditions can be expected for the rest of Sunday evening. Temperatures warmed into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees thanks to abundant sunshine throughout the day. Humidity levels have been slightly lower than they were on Saturday, but the humidity is still quite noticeable, and will increase some later this evening and overnight as a south breeze continues to pull higher humidity levels into the area. Temperatures will very slowly cool off this evening, dropping back into the upper 70s by 10pm. We will not cool off much overnight, with lows remaining in the 70s.

Intense heat is expected on Monday. Temperatures in the morning will be more tolerable, starting off in the 70s and quickly warming into the mid-80s by 10am. By early afternoon, we will be warming into the mid-90s with heat index readings over 100 degrees. Afternoon highs likely top out in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees, making it the hottest day of the summer so far. With the humidity in place as well, the heat index will likely reach 105 degrees, and could climb even higher than that in for a few locations. Be sure to account for the heat for any afternoon plans, make sure to stay hydrated, and take breaks from the heat if you will be spending a long period of time outdoors.

More clouds and an approaching cold front will help to knock temperatures down a few degrees on Tuesday, but it will still be very warm and humid. Highs on Tuesday top out in the mid-90s, with afternoon heat index readings of 100 to 105 degrees. The cold front will move through the area Tuesday evening or overnight, and could kick off a few storms. Most of the thunderstorm activity appears to develop to the south and southeast of Omaha, but if any storms do develop they could be on the strong side.
