6 FIRST ALERT: A severe weather threat comes with Monday & Tuesday storms
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - We are finishing up a great rest of our Sunday night, enjoy it! The work week starts off with multiple rounds of storms.
Monday & Tuesday are 6 First Alert Weather Days due to the threat of storms and severe weather moving through the area. Multiple rounds of storms and severe weather are possible too.
The first round would try to arrive Monday morning. The timing brings the round in very close to the morning drive with heavy rain and low end severe risk. This round could cause some impacts to the commute!
We’ll dry out around midday and then the atmosphere would then spend the rest of the day recharging leading to the evening round of storms that would try to develop to the west and move in.
The evening round would bring the highest severe risk of the day... all forms of severe weather are possible. The best chances do lean to the NW quadrant of our viewing area initially, with chances continuing overnight and shifting east as the storms try to hold together. All forms of severe weather are possible, primarily the risk for up to 2″ hail and damaging wind gusts. There is also a risk for a few tornadoes but the highest threat is to the west.
The severe risk tapers off around 3AM and then a few lingering showers and weaker storms are possible into Tuesday morning.
Another round of severe storms is possible Tuesday afternoon & evening too with the greatest threat along a cold front that will be slowly dropping southeast through the area. The timing of this round as well as where the line fires up is still a bit uncertain but it is likely after 2PM and clear of the area by 10PM. Once again all forms of severe weather will be possible.
Heavy rain with each round may lead to flash flooding. The on and off stormy pattern continues into the 4th of July. Spotty storms will be possible for much of Tuesday but try to clear the area in time for evening fireworks.
