Very hot and humid conditions are expected again on Monday, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and afternoon heat index readings in the 105 to 110 degree range.. A few locations where temperatures approach 100 along with the very humid conditions could see the heat index climb over 110 degrees at times, especially just to the south and west of the Omaha metro. Some clouds may move in on Monday, which could help some areas, especially north of I-80, to see some minor relief as clouds hold temperatures down just a bit.

When the heat index is near 110 degrees, overexposure to the elements can result in heat illness in just a short period of time. Make sure you factor in the heat to any outdoor plans, whether you will be working outdoors, or are just planning on spending the day outside. Have ways to stay cool, take breaks in the shade or the A/C, have plenty of water, and wear lightweight clothing.

A cold front will move through Monday night into Tuesday with the potential for some spotty storms. Right now the rain doesn’t appear to be widespread, so many locations may stay dry. The front will bring relief from the heat, as highs fall into the mid-80s on Tuesday. Temperatures may drop into the lower 80s for the second half of the week, some seasonably cool weather. Highs in the lower 80s would be several degrees below average for this time of year. Rain chances are sparse, with only spotty chances through Wednesday. Thursday and Friday look to stay dry at this time, with our next rain chance arriving over the upcoming weekend.
