Iowa State Fair announces finalists for ‘2024 New Fair Foods’ Contest

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - On Tuesday, the Iowa State Fair officially named the top 3 entries that will compete as part of the People’s Choice Award for the ’2024 New Fair Foods’ contest.

After announcing 84 new food entries last week, judges narrowed the field down to the top 11.

Those options included:

• Party Balls - JR’s SouthPork Ranch
• Deep-Friend Uncrustable PB&J - The Bird’s Nest
• Funnel Cake Burger - Jada’s Concessions
• Piggy in a Donut - The Biscuit Bar
• Dough-chos - Dough Crazy
• Tipsy Peach - Bubbly Bar & Bistro
• Iowa Sm’Oak’ed Roll - Whatcha Smokin? BBQ
• Lobster Corn Dog - Destination Grille
• Bacon Cheeseburger Eggroll - Winn & Sara’s Kitchen
• Cinnamon Crunch Apple Taco - Iowa Specialty Crop Growers Association
• Lemonade Donut Drops - The Snack Box.

Tuesday afternoon, the Iowa State Fair announced that the top 3 entries were:

• Bacon Cheeseburger Eggroll - Winn & Sara’s Kitchen

• Lobster Corn Dog - Destination Grille

• Iowa Sm’Oak’ed Roll - Whatcha Smokin? BBQ

Fairgoers will be able to vote on their favorite of the 3 finalists during the Iowa State Fair (which runs August 8th-18th) but will be able to try all 84 original entries.

• 2021: Cluckin’ Coop by the Iowa Egg Council/Iowa Poultry Association – Chicken Egg Salad with Fry Bread
• 2022: The Rib Shack – The Finisher
• 2023: What’s Your Cheez - Deep-Fried Bacon Brisket Mac-n-Cheese Grilled Cheese
