Emily’s 6 First Alert Forecast - More hot and smoky days in store

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Today started our long stretch of 90+ degree days for the metro! Mostly clear, but hazy skies persist this evening for most with a few spotty t-showers in W Iowa. These will be fairly isolated and most stay dry.

Low 90s stick around through Saturday but with a little mugginess it will feel more like 100...

You’ll also notice smoky skies through the end of the week... a ridge of high pressure to the SW is pulling in smoke from the Canadian and west coast wild fires. As this ridge moves E over the weekend this will likely help to thin out some of the smoke and push the worst of it to our N and E.

A the ridge moves E the forecast also heats up. The most intense heat begins Sunday, we’ve made it a 6 First Alert Weather Day as a string of 95 degree or hotter days begins.

Rain chances are not promising but with some moisture nearby Sunday and early next week we will feel more humid and the heat index will near 115!
