6 FIRST ALERT: Intense heat likely through Wednesday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Today we kick start another intense 3 day stretch of heat that will send our heat index values up over 100 degrees each afternoon. 6 First Alert Weather Days will be in place through Wednesday when the worst of the heat is expected.
Heat index values will gradually tick up each day with us getting up close to 110 degrees both Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon. This will be some dangerous heat each afternoon with heat illnesses able to sneak up on you quickly if you are out in the sun for extended periods of time. Make sure you take breaks as needed.
There won’t be much of breeze any one day either and dew points will be very high on the muggy meter through this stretch.
There is the potential to round out this 3 day heat wave with some Wednesday evening and overnight storms. Spotty storms with a couple strong storms are possible. Wind & hail would be the main threat from any that can get going with the strongest likely to be just to our north as of now.
Cooler highs in the lower 90s are then likely starting Thursday lasting through the weekend. It should be less humid as well.
