OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Temperatures early Saturday dipped into the upper 60s bringing a little relief from the very warm weather we saw on Friday. However, the hot weather quickly returns today. Partly cloudy skies this morning will give way to mainly sunny skies by afternoon with temperatures rising into the 80s by mid-morning. We should be near 90 by Noon with afternoon highs topping out around 96 degrees for the Omaha metro.

Humidity levels will be a little lower than the last hot stretch that we saw, but it will still feel quite hot this afternoon. Expect the heat index to approach 100 degrees, likely in the 98 to 100 degree range for most of the area. We will see a southwest breeze at 5 to 15mph that will help to provide some limited relief from the hot conditions.

Clear skies overnight should allow us to cool back down into the lower 70s, but even hotter weather is expected for Sunday. We’ll quickly heat back up into the 90s by midday, with afternoon highs around 98 degrees for Omaha. Thankfully, the humidity remains on the lower side but a heat index of 100 to 102 degrees can be expected.

The hottest day likely comes on Monday as highs approach 100 degrees across the area. Humidity levels should remain reasonable, but still high enough to produce a heat index close to 105 degrees. A very hot day any way you look at it, so make sure to factor that into any outdoor plans.

A cold front will move through Monday evening bringing some relief from the heat. No storms are expected with that front at this time, but it will drop highs back down into the low and mid-80s for the rest of the week. Slightly better storm chances enter the forecast Wednesday evening into Thursday. Storm look to remain on the spotty side at this time. Drier but still relatively mild weather continues into the weekend with highs in the mid-80s.
