OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - We are on first alert for approaching storm chances overnight. The first round will be here by early Wednesday morning with another, potentially stronger, evening round. This is why we’ve made Wednesday a 6 First Alert Weather Day.

The first round likely arrives in the metro after 2AM and could still be ongoing during the AM commute... Thunder and very heavy rain may wake you up!

Storms are most likely through 6AM but spotty potential and lingering impacts due to flooding will be a factor through the morning drive.

The main threat in the morning will be the concern for flash flooding... heavy rain rates could bring morning rain total of up to 2″ for some. Strong wind gusts cannot be ruled out either.

As we clear in the afternoon we will recharge the atmosphere for the evening round of storms. Clearing is most likely S of the Metro, this will be a factor in the storm intensity. While we cannot rule out storm development near Omaha, the highest risk will be to the S after 7PM and will clear out of W Iowa by midnight. Hail and wind are the main concerns.
