David’s 6 First Alert Forecast - Pleasant evening, scattered showers Tuesday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A few early showers this morning gave way to plenty of sunshine this afternoon and some pleasant August weather. Skies have been a little hazy as some wildfire smoke continues to hang in the air. So far, the impacts to air quality have been minimal with the Omaha metro seeing moderate air quality, meaning most people will not see an impact. Skies should remain generally sunny through the evening, with temperatures in the low and mid-80s. We’ll start to cool around sunset, falling back into the low 70s by 10pm.
Clouds will be on the increase overnight as another quick moving storm system slides our way. This will bring at least a chance for some scattered showers to the area by mid-morning on Tuesday. Any rainfall looks fairly sparse and light, but could bring some brief on and off wet weather throughout the midday and early afternoon hours.
The clouds and spotty showers will keep temperatures a little cooler than average, similar to what we saw on Sunday. We’ll start off in the low 60s, and slowly warm into the 70s throughout the day. High temperatures likely top out in the upper 70s, though if we can manage some afternoon sunshine, highs could climb closer to 80 degrees.
Sunny and drier weather returns on Wednesday along with more typical August warmth. The quiet weather should last through Friday, with highs in the low to mid-80s Wednesday through Friday. By the weekend, a little more summer heat makes an appearance. Highs likely climb into the low or even mid-90s for Saturday and Sunday, with the heat lasting through at least Monday.
We’ll have some humidity to deal with as well, likely pushing the heat index up to around 100 degrees. The hottest will likely be on Sunday when we have the combination of mid-90s and slightly higher humidity levels. Temperatures will return to more typical August levels by the middle of next week.
