AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/Gray News) - Bond has been set for the grandmother of a baby who died of hypothermia after being left in front of an air conditioner earlier this month while wrapped in a wet blanket.

A Georgia judge set a $50,000 bond for Diane Seright on Friday.

Three people were arrested on Aug. 6 including Diane Seright, the baby’s mother 19-year-old September Seright and 39-year-old Antonio Nash.

The trio were charged with felony murder and child cruelty in the second degree.

According to an arrest warrant, the baby was left in a car seat in a hotel bathroom wrapped in a wet blanket while September Seright was in the shower.

The mother then placed the child in front of the air conditioner “for an unknown amount of time” while she was lying on a couch and the other two were lying in a bed.

The baby, later identified as 3-month-old Josiah Noel Seright, ended up being pronounced dead at the hospital.

At the bond hearing, District Attorney Jared Williams called the case “baffling” and the public defender called it “horrible for everyone involved.”

Williams shared that Diane Seright said that September Seright is “exceptionally and developmentally slow.”

Williams accused Diane Seright of failing the baby by not checking in and caring for her own daughter.

“No one in the hotel room had the sense to check on that baby in front of the air conditioner,” Williams said.

Authorities said Diane Seright was the person who called 911 that day.

September Seright’s bond hearing was delayed Friday to give public defenders more time.
