SEWARD COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on I-80 in Seward County Wednesday morning.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on eastbound I-80 south of Seward at 6:15 a.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by Suny Rattu, 34, of Lincoln, California, crashed into the back of another eastbound tractor-trailer.

Rattu was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. The other driver, a 40-year-old Virginia man, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Seward Fire and Rescue, Seward Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Transportation assisted on scene.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the crash.

A stretch of eastbound lanes on Interstate 80 about 20 miles west of Lincoln was shut down for hours while authorities investigated the crash.
