Rod Stewart’s Son Sean Divorcing Wife Jody Weintraub, Now Dating Julia Stambler: Source

The streetwear designer and the producer "haven’t really been together for months," an insider tells PEOPLE of Sean and Jody

Sean Stewart has split from wife Jody Weintraub and is now dating Julia Stambler.

The streetwear designer and oldest son of Rod Stewart, 43, married Weintraub — a producer and the daughter of the late producer Jerry Weintraub — in February 2023, PEOPLE exclusively revealed at the time.

As of Saturday, July 6, the pair have not been together for months, a source tells PEOPLE.

“It just wasn’t working with Jody,” the source says. “They tried but are in the process of divorcing and haven’t really been together for months.”

Sean is now dating Stambler, a Beverly Hills-based model and facialist. The pair struck up a romance after they “rekindled a longtime friendship and developed an attraction,” the source tells PEOPLE, adding that “they ran into each other at the Glen Centre in Bel Air and started texting and planned to do some healthy hangs together.”

The couple quickly bonded over their passion for fitness, the source notes, adding, “They are both very balanced.”

“She saw him in a new light,” the insider says of the Skinsane founder. “Sean’s a really good guy and she’s excited and a little overwhelmed."

“Sean and Julia are both wanting a family life, and as they were talking about what they want in life everything just clicked,” the insider continues. “It was just an instant soulmate connection. All of their friends agree.”

According to the insider, Stambler has clicked well with Sean’s family as well. His mom, Rod’s ex-wife Alana Stewart, “loves Julia,” the source says. Rod, meanwhile, “understands,” and told Sean to “be respectful of his ex Jody and the situation before fully moving forward.”

The new couple went Instagram official on July 5, with Sean sharing a solo shot of Stambler in his Fourth of July post. On July 6, Stambler shared a selfie of the pair on her Instagram Stories.

Prior to Sean, Stambler dated Smashbox Cosmetics co-founder Davis Factor for five years.

Sean and Weintraub said “I do” last year shortly after the entrepreneur proposed to her on Valentine's Day in Las Vegas, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.

"Sean asked her while they were out to dinner at Catch," a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time. “They married shortly after getting their marriage license at 10 p.m. at Little Church of the West.”

"Sean and Jody share a best friend, Courtenay Semal, which was the reason why they kept reconnecting over the years," the insider said of the pair, who have known each other since high school.

“They both have famous families," the source added, noting that "they just get each other.”
