Mercer County Community Baby Shower helps new and expecting mothers

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – The Mercer County Community Baby Shower is no ordinary baby shower.

Not only was there more than one mother being celebrated at the event, there were also lots of different organizations there offering new and expecting mothers different resources they might need as they navigate parenthood.

Starting Points Program Manager, Tonya Milam commented, “We partner with other community resources that serve moms and families to offer items and resources to those in need.”

Child Protect of Mercer County, Inc. teamed up with different local organizations to pull off this free event at the Preservati Event and Training Center. These different organizations set up shop to offer free items, information on their programs, and safety tips, while offering a nice meal to all who attended.

“New moms can be under a lot of stress, and we want to lift those moms up and those families up,” said Milam. “We want to surround them with things they need and make sure they know that they have a community that supports them.”

The Mercer County Community Baby Shower has been helping mothers for around 10 years.

Local organizations involved in this event intends to serve mothers for years to come.
