Western NC man sentenced in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach: DOJ

NORTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A western North Carolina man was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges related to the January 6th U.S. Capitol building breach, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C.

Brevard resident Alan Michael St. Onge, 36, will serve 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the January 6th breach of the U.S. Capitol building.

Court records citing surveillance footage stated that St. Onge was in ‘The Tunnel,’ considered to be the most violent point of the attacks, where he joined others in “relentlessly pushing against police officers.”

He was arrested on June 16th, 2023, in Brevard. In addition to the sentence, St. Onge was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.

So far nearly 1,500 people have been charged in the breach of the US Capitol building, according to the Justice Department.

FBI Charlotte was among the departments involved in the case.
